:spanking: seen on new's that during the under 21 football game between England's team and Germany , that one of the young english player was called a monkey by the other player after a tackle ball, seem's that it's common with the crowd's too, thought the last war stopped that,:( yea right:mad: :mad:

why is that racist, did he have a tail or does he just like banana's?

As for the war ( I presume you are talking about WW I or WW II) I don't think the main objective was to stop racist slurs, and since you are refering to war, sport (in this case football) is a derivative of war, as since all is fair in love and war, then play on, get over it.

If you've spent time in the UK you would understand why this is racist not to mention fucking insulting

I would say calling a black person a monkey is slightly more offensive that calling a Frenchman a Frog, it is also questionable whether this is racist as this is ridiculing a nation not an entire race.

Ahh, fair enough. So in the event I make a complete dick of myself at a later date. Why was calling him a monkey incredibly offensive?

It was poor form really..

any professional sportsmen wouldn't let anything like that get to him, but saying that, things like that arn't needed.

Also they say those things cause they know the other dude will get worked up and do something dumb, e.g Zinedine Zidane.

So a white person can call a black person a monkey and its racist;
a black person can call a white person or a West Indian a monkey and its racist;
an American can call an Asian a monkey and its racist;
and in Australia, if you call anyone a monkey you are being racist to Aboriganies?

Thats nuts!

Try being south african and even hinting at racisim. You get the third degree from every hippy from Auckland to bluff

I'm sure you do and racism works both ways, however after spending many years on English tearraces hearing fans chant monkey noises, throwing bananas and chanting obscenities at black football players and fans, you can understand why I regards this behaviour as racist and offensive.

I prefer Porch Monkey.

7. porch monkey

someone without a job that sits on their porch all day drink'n 40's, and trading food stamps for crack.

Goes to show you learn something new every day. I havent heard of the term "monkey" as a racial slur before, but have just looked it up on Urban Dictionary:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=monkey&page=1

You have to get to term 14 before it appears. Meanwhile, he could apparently have used the word to mean vagina, penis, masturbation, animal, sweetheart, 500 quid, or a range of other interpretations.

I do have to admit tho, as far as insults go, yelling "500 quid!!" at someone doesnt have the same ring to it.

I get called a monkey all the time cos I've got long arms, I take it as a compliment cos monkeys are cool, specially those spider monkeys. I wouldn't mind being one of them, if only they could ride motorbikes.
