Right then.
Everything has gone wrong in the last 18 months.
To the point where I'm now thoroughly self-involved.
There's fuck all in life that brings joy and motorcycles are one of those few things that make life worth living.
But as a result of my accident I've found out a couple of things.
I've been let down massively by two organisations that I've pimped ceaselessly on KB. One has the chance to redeem themselves. The other was given half a dozen chances over the course of this last week, and they basically made it obvious they weren't interested in my business in future at all, probably because of one person's lack of respect for me.
I'll be dropping a couple of nukes at the end of next week.
I'm sick of being fucked with, and it's about time I started dishing it out.
One lot will be going to court if they don't sort their shit out. The other won't be getting any of my hard, and I mean hard, earned cash ever again.
I've boiled and brooded over this for a week.
I'm coming for you. Buck your fucking ideas up.

So I take it that you plan to shit all over them then?!
Good luck with your battle Jim....

Sorry mate - my purchase early this week leaves me in no position to 'dig deep' for you. Otherwise you have my support for what it is worth. Guys like you should never be shit on. Keep us in the loop.

And you were all cheery when I saw you today! What about that dipstick who was walking his bike through to the workshop only to not notice a 12 foot by 20 foot wall painted white.. bump. "shit, what prick put a wall here to scatch my bike.."I'm sure it wasn't here a few seconds ago" "Honestly it jumped out at me". That must have cheered you up.
Your bike will bounce back Jim. Minor stuff but I know how you feel over every little scratch.
James Deuce
14th October 2006, 16:54
I was cheery because I rang that particular workshop and not only were they happy to take the work on, they would've picked the bike up for me, if I hadn't given myself a virtual kick in the bum and ridden it down.
Thanks for not mentioning any names, and yes the wall incident gave me a bit of a boost. And seeing a 636 with a D205 on the back :)

Damn Jim. This no-bike thing sounds like its really tough. Perhaps a two-bike scenario might be better looking to the future. :(

I may or may not be pissed off at someone or something too - and when, or if, I determine who, or what it is, then I may, or may not do something (or not) about it.
Unless they do or don't.
Got it?

I'm really kicking myself for selling the CB400. But thanks for the thought - have been looking at a couple of early '70s BMW R50/5's with a view to joining Paul in NZ's Classic Bike Fetish Rides. There are a surprising number of these things turning up for very little money and I like the way the cylinders protect your feet. Ideal for communting. No more knocking mirrors off, just a big long dent along the bottom of doors.

Hey! Thats not what you said last night
Don't worry Jim - when you get angry enough to take over the world I'd like to volunteer as semi evil side kick or possibly pick up the regiemes caterering business? If thats OK?
Catch you later...
Instead of the beemer - why don't we both get old pre war 250's or something equally dire with a Villiers 2 stroke engine - I think it would be megga fun...

Sorry to hear about all the grief Jim, especially with the summer coming on. For God's sake, blow it out of your system with a short sharp bit of retaliation, then move on. If you ferment on it all, the only person who suffers is you and it sounds like you've done enough of that all ready. No need to punish yourself.
Best of luck in working your way through it.

Seriously though, good news Jim, hope the od turns up soon.

I rang and rang and rang Motorad to see if they'd pick my bike up. They wouldn't commit to a time and neither did the workshop manager acknowledge or follow up on my desire to get my bike fixed by them. My wife waited at home every morning for a ring from the workshop last week. Not even a call to say they weren't coming.
I left two messages this week, Monday, and Wednesday, and wasn't rung back.
Lorraine (accounts lady) is awesome.
Brendan is a nice bloke and I enjoy talking with him, and I'm tremendously grateful for the support he offered K14 when asked.
Kerry is awesome, and I appreciate the extra 300 miles he goes for me repeatedly in terms of quality, personalised service.
But I get the feeling that the workshop manager doesn't rate me, so I get dismissed from mind as soon as the phone is hung up.
I've taken the bike to TSS to get fixed. I'm not entirely unhappy about that because Derek McAdam left Motorad some time ago, and not being disparaging to those left, he never ever once screwed anything up on 5 different bikes in three years and I'm not keen to "bond" with the guys left with the attitude of the workshop manager in mind. Stew has worked on me for years really and he's let me ride bikes and write reports about them more than once. He deserves the payback.
Motorad do some good things, but I've bought 2 new bikes in two years from them and it's a bit stink that the workshop manger isn't interested. I've sold two Z750s for them after intense discussions with prospective buyers, Col is on his RF because I spotted it, talked about the price and got Barry (no longer at Motorad of course) primed to talk to him, and I've pointed people at their spares and equipment section repeatedly.
I guess I'm just a customer after all.
I'll still be dealing with Kerry for my bike "stuff". He's a top bloke and I like the gear they sell.
I hate having my nose rubbed in how uncool I am.

Good on you Jim
People in business really ought to learn to look after their customers - particularly those with big mouths - like you!
A customer who is happy is an extremely valuable asset and should be treated as such, one who is unhappy can do untold damage.....
MSTRS
20th October 2006, 10:47
Interestingly, Jim, you say nice things about some of the staff there. It is true that we all tend to deal with those in business that we 'like'...but the truth is that a business is only as good as it's weakest link and THAT's what we all tend to remember.
Fatjim
20th October 2006, 10:55
Funny, I stopped using Motorad because, and only because of the workshop service attitude as well.
I don't by enough accessories to miss Kerry's service, but he is a top bloke. He should open his own shop!
