It will be Wellington. While the "Moo Loo's" (Translates as "Cow Toilets") did play well against inferior oppositon and are a 'good' side they will fail to impress against true class.

Typically well thought out, well constructed, well reasoned debate, I'd expect from those from the Waikato.

Big rugby matches are won 'up front', the engine room.
Our engine has more grunt and power than those cow bell lovin inbreeds.
We'll dismantle them piece by sorry piece.
Any team that can mash Canterbury and Auckland in consecutive weeks is good enough to do the business.

I win either way! being a wellington lad who now lives in the waikato, I can only win :-)

That said I'm picking the mighty mooloos.

Even with Neemia Tialata missing, I just can't see those Waikato forwards dominating.

And, as we saw on Friday, Wellington don't even need the majority of possession to dominate as well!

Nice to see Corey Jane (Upper Hutt boy) doing so well in the Lions too.

Welly by two tries.

Hmmm, maybe, maybe not!

I find myself divided, while I live in Wgtn I grew up in Rotovegas where we supported Waikato as at the time BOP were not in the competition. I think i'll be rooting for the Lions though, Wellys my home now!

Mooloos all the way!

I'm a Crusader normally, but in their absence we resort to the 'table of favouritism'....and Wellington, I'm afraid, are always bottom!

That chainsaw dude always makes me laugh. The original Waikato beer ad. was filmed at the Paekakariki Pub, with the boys from Northern United (The club that Jerry, John S, Tamati, Serge belong to) It was great fun. My role was to walk in put my chainsaw on the rack and walk to the bar. You can see my arm and my back. I'd always been told I have a face for radio! The beer was warm and the fish and chips cold - so much for being a star...

Yea great club. Gotta go with Welly, great team, although haven't been to impressed by Nonu sure he's impressing others but at the game against Canterbury i think he's trying a bit to hard and playing a bit more like a very dangerous loose forward...fair call?

I admire his attacking play, but defensively, he's a pussy.
How can a guy that big get brushed off in a 'one on one' tackle situation so often?
Loose forward? Never. They HAVE to make every tackle count. Jerry. Ritchie. Rodney. Chris. Harder than steel. That's a loose forward.

I'd agree with those sentiments. A good (read as inconsistent) back and a piss poor defender. The most telling on Friday was when the young fella (yet to prove the hype) waltzed straight past him. Toeava did get a pat on the butt on the way past though - thanks Ma'a, you're the Ma'an.... :buggerd:

I think not. Ever seen anyone in Wellington bashing a fucking cowbell non stop for 80 mins? Ever seen anyone in Wellington revving the shit out of a chainsaw like they want the lead in 'The Texas chainsaw massacre part ten' for no good reason?

Wellington is very different thank fuck.

Yea good point i was refering to how he attacks with the ball and when wellington have the ball. just sort of the way when on attack he looks for the player not really the space and he kind of tries to get into everything and sort of is always trying to much with the ball instead of just throwing the pass to the next man. but yea defencesivly on the wing well just playing on the wing really he's not to good he doesn't really play to the position. he's kind of just on the wing to be on the field

but in saying that im still all for Wellington

And it just shows the passion that other regions' supporters have for their team. We went to watch Canterbury and Wellington play (I use the term loosely - it was a poor game) in the quarter finals and I was appalled to see the cake tin pretty much half empty.

Quarter finals, chance to watch Wellington walk all over the Crusaders again...half empty stadium.....? Not a lot of passion for rugby in Wellington from what I've seen so far.

I too was at that game, and must say also how disappointed I was in the numbers at the game.
But, that's the exception rather than the norm. Wellington rugby is well followed and we normally have far bigger crowds than ANY of the other unions. Same goes for the Hurricanes. That's why the Wellington Union is one of the richest in NZ.

The_Dover
18th October 2006, 12:38
I think the same goes for any live rugby in New Zealand unless it's a test match or "big game" ie final or semi.

The crowds are fucking pathetic and usually so quiet that everyone can hear me farting. NZ is supposed to be "passionate" about it's rugby???

I was a season ticket holder at eden park for two years and the place was always half empty, it's a fuckin 38,000 seater in a city of 4 million!!! (furry muff there is north harbour too but surely auckland city should be able to fill a stadium for nearly every game)

Ticket prices are fuck all really, compared to football games in the uk, so why are the crowds so small?

I love rugby and the best atmosphere I've experienced at any game was Lions Vs Auckland NPC team. Jade Stadium was ok'ish (Crusaders vs Blues '04? i think) Waikato Stadium was pretty good (AB's vs Welch) but the caketin and eden park are always quiet.

Thanks for postings.
Do you know that it is now mid day Sunday and the only information about the game that I have seen read or heard, is what I have just read on this forum!!!
Whats happening to our world as we have known it??
I am glad that it was a good game and a decisive outcome.
Well done rugby. Cheers John.

Isn't it a joke in Rugby Union that the TMO can only adjudicate on the grounding of a ball in goal, when the try in question should have been disallowed because of an earlier infringement they cannot rule on. Last night's second Byron Kelleher try is such an occasion, when the ball was clearly kicked through the scrum by Marty Hollah. No sour grapes, I think that Waikato are worthy winners, but I just think this whole TMO nonsense needs sorting out.

And while the IRB is at it, can they please introduce a two-point penalty, Rugby League's line dropout laws, and do away with the ultimate soft-cock experience, the "mark".

Colapop
22nd October 2006, 12:02
I agree that the TMO is about as helpful in some situations as me being at home yelling at the ref. and a 2 point penalty needs to be introduced. The biggest problem is the players that are allowed to lay on the wrong side of the ruck. You saw it in the test againt Austalia where Rocky Elsom moved his arse out of there really quickly once he got the slipper tickle up. Players need to be taught how to ruck again. "The foot is drawn in a horizontal movement over the ball to move it to where the halfback can retrieve it from the ruck" Rugby - a game for all (1976) Too many players think stamping on the ruck is rucking.
