Noob - Jayson Ross

Hi im Jayson Ross, 16 male, go to St. Pats Silverstream. Currently trying to get a job and save up for a bike and licence. I got $500 so far and my dad recommened i get a GN 250. I used to ride dirt bikes when i was younger not competitivly just randomly. I had a 96 KX 80 a old Yamaha TT '88 i think :s, and Yamaha Peewee 50 which i got for my second Christmas(couldnt ride it till i was 4 though) ah yea thats kind of some background stuff on my experiences with motorbike as well as rides with my dad and around him and his bikes and yea oh and Buy the Crusty Demons Of Dirt Chronicles DVD - $30 at the warehouse good dvd bought it yesterday

Welcome Jayson, Most on here are split 50/50 on the GN 250, personally i think its a great little road bike to start on, i did but it wasnt long till i was thinking of bigger things, still, with the licence laws the way they are, it takes a bit of time to graduate huh?

Thaks...Yea my dad thinks so to he's pretty keen and determined on me getting one if i'm going to ride so yea. I see you ride a triumph nice..wouldnt know where you could get a triumph chopper frame would you? Dads keen to build another one

Nice to see ya, my Dad used to go to St Pat's. Heheh, you've got some reading to do on some of the threads which bang on about the merits of all things two-fiddy. Seems you got a pop who can steer you in the right directions - lucky!

Yea i do. He knows his stuff about bikes built a couple, one that had photo's taken for an Australian magazine and won competitions aparently so yea. He said that he doesn't really want me to ride, but if i want to he'll help me along the way so its done right and no silly decisions

Yeap should be good once i'm all sorted out. Have to find someone to go riding with, get up a bit of experience, keen to try ride up to the big day out next year but my mother will probably say no lol ah well

Yep the GN250 is a great wee learner... and listen to your dad.. he is onto it.


Go and check out a thread started by BuckBuckNo1 as he has some great tips in his thread about learning to ride out there on the streets.
It has lots of practise tips etc....

Hi Jayson, welcome.
I personally love GNs for what they are, cheap, fairly reliable, confidence builders. The only problem with them is that you could get very bored very quickly, but then, being a youngling, slow and steady is better than fast and dead!! Keep us updated on your progress, and don't forget to buy some good safety gear too. (Quasievil has some great affordable gears). Have fun!
