I was asked this question by someone who just purchased one, because I had one myself.
I can't remember exactly how the battery compartment looked and how to get to it.
I remember the lever under the pillion seat to remove the drivers seat (wish my zx6r had that) but the rest is a blank, help please!!

Well you need to open the pillion seat (as you mentioned) then pull the bar to open the rider seat. Once that is open you will need to use allen (alan... alen...) keys to unscrew the mount that holds the base of the tank off the battery (I know it doesn't make sense... but when your looking at it... it will), once you have unscrewed that, then you need to use one hand to lift the tank (so make sure you pull the left side fairing out where the fuel switch is) to lift the tank, just leverage it up with one hand, and use the other hand to remove the battery.
Then remember to pull the left side fairing out again when lowering the tank so you don't break the fairing or bend the fuel switch in any way.
Also becareful that when you remove the battery, where the connections are (+/-) there are small metal conectors, if they fall out and you miss it, and put the battery back in... it will not start...
I should be picking my bike up this afternoon... I'll take some pics to show you what I'm taking about... because I'm sure my above explanation isn't very easy to understand lol
