Ok guys, our last effort nearly turned to complete crap when an undercover po-po pulled up as we were about to leave.

I had a look at Hobsonville Airbase, there is a large carpark about 150mx100m but when I went there i discovered that an small towns worth of film crew had moved in and completely occupied this place - gay.

Spoke to the old man to ask if he could think of anywhere at Whenuapai and all he came up with was the disused runway - not a bad idea.

What I'm wanting to know is who would be keen for a practice day once every month or two on the runway at whenuapai. We would be granted 400-800m of runway to use but there will probably be a catch.

To help sway the Base Commander our way i thought we could put up maybe $20 each to go towards Base Welfare which assists the families of service people that are overseas on duty, RRRS charges $40 but im not sure how much of that goes to the Welfare fund.

Only other catch is that it would be arrive at X time (10am?) and then once you've left you cant come back in (without me escorting you back in which would become a pain in the ass).

This of course is all pending on the decision that comes back from the Base Commander - if he says no there is nothing i can do.

Some people have already put up some interest for both stunting and "race start practice" aka drags, which could be done too but it'd be pretty ad hoc and wouldnt have any official times or anything.

I'm gonna start the ball rolling asap, so should have some possible dates confirmed so let me know when the racing etc is on so i dont double book on another major event.

we have a good car park down here that we use late at night...lots of feds around though, but they are usually ok with us cause we aint drinking, breaking glass, or visibly laying rubber down...
the key is to keep the noise down.:Punk:

Yeah sounds like a good idea. If you get it organised I'll try and learn how to wheelie.

I'd be keen for that, I suck at wheelies and haven't tried a stoppy in about 6-7 years.

Im sure OSH would put the kaibosh on it.... instead of using a huge runway, they prefer you to practice on the streets among the Asian drivers.

OSH doesnt need to know about it, but that doesnt mean that im not planning it all with the party poopers in mind.

Firefight has come onboard and offered to supply fire extinguishers and a spill/cleanup kit which has helped immensely.

There will also be atleast one trained medic on hand should anything go wrong, but for the moment im not going to go as far as having an ambulance on hand unless people want to pay.

All in all things are looking to be shaping up well, will hopefully have a date set by the end of the month if not mid february. I friend has mentioned to get the Base Auckland Motorsport club on hand to help smoothen the process with getting clearance so there should be a good turnout.
