I received the following e-mail from a mate of mine this afternoon. Not sure if signing the petition will do any good, but hell, who knows. When I signed it I was signature number 10,652 so it has some legs.
______

NZ Democracy could die tonight.

"Our government . . . teaches the whole people by its example. If the government becomes the lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy." – Louis Brandeis (1856 - 1941) US Supreme Court justice.

The Labour Party is about to ram through a law that validates all election spending from 1989 till now and which probably makes the culprits immune.

The attached link is the petition to the Governor-General requesting his refusal to sign the appalling 'validation' legislation currently being rammed through Parliament which, in true third-world dictatorship-style, is obscenely attempting to legalise an illegality.

This is a gross abuse of power.

Please sign the petition if you don't like living in a neo-socialist state where the incumbent government does whatever the hell they want.

Please spread this far and wide. This is really really bad for us.

Don't steal: the Government hates competition.
