According to initial indications, Intelligent Energy’s ENV fuel cell motorbike will be on sale from mid-2007 at a price of approximately £5,250 (NZD 14,750).
The ENV’s hydrogen-cell can run for around four hours (a range of about 100 miles) before refuelling and the bike has a maximum speed of 50mph. At present there are few refuelling stations available – so perhaps you would want to live in range of Hornchurch in Essex, which sports a BP garage with this capability, as the fuel-cell buses being trialled in London refuel there.
Initially the bike will be made available to fleet customers in Europe and North America before going on general sale in 2008.
