Right, how important is this piece? What is its function?

(EDIT: This piece sticks in to the bottom of each air intake up front, incase it goes by different names sometimes)

I've been looking to get my race bike out for the first time since I've bought it, and have picked this coming Friday at Puke...

Now I've realised that I'm missing the right hand side resonator chamber...can I go without it?

I'd be shocked if Honda NZ had one in stock, and even then I doubt I'd get it between Tuesday and Thursday.

Cheers.

Hey Toast.

Is it for the 'Blade?

Have you tried http://forums.cbrworld.net/ for an answer?

Hey mate, thanks for that!

Nah, it's not for the 'Blade, it's for my 600RR.

From reading a few posts in that link, it seems that the resonator chamber is there mostly for reducing the induction noise (what the hell were Honda engineers thinking? No wonder Kawasakis always sound cooler). One guy claims that he lost a little bottom end torque, but that doesn't concern me on a race bike, and I like induction noise. Now just have to fiddle with the fitting of it all, as it's a bit loose without that resonator chamber on the bottom.

Cheers again :niceone:

Not sure if it's a similar thing but a mate has a Blade. There's a flapper valve on the intake somewhere that you can default to open. He did it and said it was really loud when gassing it at lower rpm.

Part of the reason for doing it may be noise regulations at low rpm...
