Great to see them winning races again!
loved that line about winning on a Moto Guzzi means having a place in the history.

It looks like they are going to do it again, and break records doing it.
"In the opening race of the Battle of Twins Gianfranco Guareschi came home first aboard the Moto Guzzi MGS-01 # 88 (setting a new track record for the category) and came within a whisker of winning the Sound of Thunder category. Tomorrow will see Guareschi’s last race in this American series."
"Race 1 in Daytona is started with flags and not the usual traffic lights and Guareschi took the lead immediately, setting a pace that his rivals couldn’t match. The fact that he had built up such a lead over his nearest rivals made the Parma rider think it was still a warm-up lap and he slowed down on the straight where he was passed by two NCR Millonas ridden respectively by Larry Pegram and Valter Bartolini. Pegram kept the throttle open and increased the gap during the second lap while Bartolini was soon caught and passed by the MGS-01 #88 on braking before the Parabolica. On the third lap Guareschi launched an attack that was the decisive move of the race. He reeled in Pegram with a lap that saw a new track record (for the BOTT category): 1’46’’5."
Still another race to go at Daytona, and good luck to Guareschi and Guzzi
