Darkman

Well, I thought I'd never ever go on a race track after my accident(not bike related), but after a few years and getting use to my R1, I am ready to go back on. Found a cheap bike to convert to a race bike and so the project has started.
Got the bike yesterday(first pic) and today, myself and Uncle B has started to strip it for the big tuneup(second pic). Not even started racing yet but having so much fun already just playing around with all the bits.

So I don't know to much about all the racing regulations so will appreciate all the help and advice I can get...just anything on what works better and all the rest of it.

So will see all you guys out there next season to join in on all the fun.:scooter:

Thanks Uncle B for all your help thus far..your a legent man!:Punk:

oh yeah...I will be selling all the road parts/fairings of the GSXR400, so PM me if anyone want anything.

That's awesome, congrats!! Keep us informed with your progress.
It's amazing how things can be taken apart so it just looks like a pile of rubble and then the satisfaction of putting it all back together again and to be able to use it again!

Holy Crap Darkman......all I told you to do was pull the air filter & have a look at the plugs.

It's good fun. We'll have her ready to race in no time........umm, I think :dodge:

The real fun part is yet to come......putting her back togeather :killingme

Can anybody tell me where to get hold of a kill type switch to replace my ignition switch. looking for the one that cuts out when rider falls off.
Plus where is a good place to get second hand parts from..I've been trying the Bucket and bits guy, but they are not replying.

Great to hear you're going racing mate, it's a huge buzz and I wish you all the best. For bits and advice about racing your GSXR, you could always PM Mitch, she races one and has a heap of spares etc.

Taking the CBR up with new Supercorsas. Can't wait. Have got an ex race Dunlop with enough meat on it to get me by for a while, for the Ape. Many thanks to an anonymous benefactor. What tyres you running on the R1 now? See you up there man.

Sweet..will have to check out the cbr. I'm running Metzeller Sportec M3. Went up the hill on thursday with Deano and Jimbo so was pushing harder than normal to keep up and they were great..got to the top and they were sticky ass. Just hope they last a bit longer than the contis.

Hey man nice bike, ive just started racing the a gsxr400 aswell, bloody good fun.

What sprocket ratios are you running?

mines got a sp gearbox and it was fuckin hard to launch fast so i did a 520 chain conversion to get a 13 tooth sprocket on the front, but i couldnt get a 520 rear so had to get the 525 surface ground to fit the new chain.

also if u happen to come across any parts, particulalry sprocket cover i could be very interested, mine threw the chain on sunday, joining link decided it was no longer needed.

Thanks

Yeah, it is a bit..cause I think with more time on the track i can really do well. The thing is, I was lucky with my crash, but still have a knee that hurts and wont bend that well. For me that stuffs up my tennis. We are leading in a tournament and now i cant play....Sucks more to me than not riding.
