Well, the weather's been shit.
So nothing for it but to bugger around in teh gargre.
The RF got a full front-end strip today, and now has nice new oil in the forks.
Out with the dark grey sludge (different amounts in each fork too), and in with the lovely straw coloured stuff.
What's everyone else been doing on their bikes this horrid rainy weekend?

Mate!
Got out on the Vic Club members track day yesterday. Brilliant weather, 50 bikes max, and as much track time as you could want. Naturally I rode like shit, but I have a plan for changing that. No doubt, I have the rest of my life to live down being passed by Jarrod Wintle on his Harley. What can I say? I was trying to text my wife at the time. Had some good advice to help with bike set-up and got to take Delboy's R6 for a spin. Mmmm, very nice.
The weather was so shite today that we had to call off the public open day. Water was flowing accross the track in several places and it didn't look like it was going to clear up. Moral of the story is join the Vic Club. It's worth it just for the free annual track day.

I rode it to work and back on Saturday...
If it wants any more than that then it's gonna have to start putting out.

400 + km ride on the GB on Saturday- http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=797017#post797017. Cleaned out the shed a bit yesterday so I have a bit more room to swing the cat. Proud of myself I was for letting a whole rubbish bag of crap go. Kicked the 550f over-yip it starts, as usual, as it has done for the last 20 years. Gave the 750fc spares bike crank a turn over. Found a brake hose off the 250T I wrecked a while back in one of my bit n peices drawers. I'll replace the cx's brake line with it as it's shorter and isn't starting to crack and will better suit the lower bars I've fitted.
Pissing down outside at the mo and have put the rubbish/recycling out. Was tempted to inspect the bags to retrieve some of the "treasures" , but boys in the big truck have been so bye bye little ones :bye:

Took the rear wheel off the T-Sport as the factory fitted tyre showed perish marks in two places (H-D Dunlop), as the bike only has 7,000km and is a 2000 model I suspect it has sat for months with a flat tyre or something, bastard still had about %80+ tread left, argh!.
And I had to take the rear muffler off before I could get the axle-bolt out, the bloody inconvenience of it all!
Will shoot down to bike shop and get the new tyre fitted, my old favourite, a Conti Milestone. :niceone:

The clutch slave cylinder has been leaking. I've had the parts for a while. The K3 model SV has a design fault where crap from the front sprocket makes it way down the side of the piston and onto the seal. So as the clutch goes in and out it roots it. The K4 and later model SVs have an extra rubber diaphram (sp?) that stops this and fits onto the K3.
Well the cylinder was badly worn so I got some really fine emery paper and cleaned that up then some silvo polish. Gave it a bloody good clean, fitted the new seal and diaphram and put all back together.
Then I went back to domestic duties after taking the kids for rides up and down the driveway.

I had a pair of Pilot Powers fitted Saturday. Spent some of Saturday afternoon scrubbing them in and yesterday went down SH22. Some rain so bike got a clean when I got home!
Put up a sign saying "Turn off H.A.R.D" where I keep my helmet!! ( and it works! )
Very happy with the Pilot Powers so far. I liked the BT014s but the PPs tip in even better and seem to be more composed over bumps.... even did some well known bumps a few times just to be sure!. Feel very confident leaning. Hopefully they don't shred at the track!!

Dunno where you was but at WINJA's the weather was not too bad at all. Did not ride in the rain all weekend. As for what I did for the bike? Along with some assistance from others we managed to get the yz80 to throw a ring and after that it might have dropped the piston. I then released it from ownership and swapped it for one of WINJA's leather jackets. Probably the best thing I did for the other bikes in the garage was not take them along with me this weekend... :whocares:

Swapped out rear indicators for shorter smaller once since I kept kicking the original ones getting on or off the bike. Soon as I get some double sided tape and the battery for my drill charged I'll be installing some side reflectors that double as running lights, night use only as they aren't bright enough to be seen during the daylight hours.

Gave it a new chain, finally got round to seting up the rear suspension, and figured out why it wouldn't rev out to the limiter - air filter was collapsing and blocking off the intake.
Removed air filter for thrashing purposes.

Well, there was a break in the weather so I got the opportunity to test out the forks with the new oil over the Wallaceville Hill. What a revelation! So much more compliance in the front end and I didn't have to wrestle with a front end that banged up and down any more!
Very pleased with my weekends work I am.
Roll on the ride to work tomorrow...
ceebie13. I must pop around to see the CB13 in person since I'm in the neighbourhood. I'm curious to see if its as shiny as my father-in-law's Hornet 900.

I went and picked up a shed for mine, put it on a trailer fully assembled in upper hutt and drove down the motorway crapping myself that it would implode at any second and take someone out.
Bolted it to the car deck which involved crawling around in the mud underneath the deck to get the nuts on. Now I just need to cut a door in the end so I can actually fit more than the front wheel in.

Washed them both, cleaned and lubed the chains. The Duc had/has some really sticky substance on the chain that degreaser/brush won't move. gave up on that one.
Swapped the front pads round on the VTR as they wear more on the outside (I think). Now they're binding, so there coming off again tonight for a proper clean.
Reglued my heated grips. Throttle mechanism now needs cleaning out.
All in all, not a very successful weekend for maintanence.

Beware, I found that the EBC sintered pads don't like the wet on my VTR. Make sure you keep drying them out when it rains or they ain't gonna work when you need them.

Stuffed bike into a gorse bush, major humiliation due to spectators, face planted in two mud holes (not as many spectators) and low sided on the gravel (no spectators but hurts more than the others).
New front brake lever (thanks people at riverhead forest)
Bent rear brake lever (must fix tomorrow)
Realigned forks twice.
Thanks to the many assistants that dug me out from underneath the bike.
Must learn to ride off road before doing another adventure ride.
I will clean the bike tomorrow...its blended into the undergrowth out back of the garage somewhere.

Saturday, cleaned n lubed the chain, gave the bike a quick wash. Then did a quick blast around the bays with a mate, his bike popped it's lolly chasing me up gebbies, stashed the bike at a farm, dubbed him back to town via Motukarara/Taitapu. He picked the bike up on Sunday. Went back into town on Monday hauled the motor out of the bike & cracked the cases to see what the damage was:shit: collapsed bearing.
Didn't go via the bays? HDC. A Hornet tailed me through Allendale to the Wheatsheaf Corner
thrashed it to Akaroa and back on Saturday.

Checked the oil, water, tyres, lubed the chain and went for a 500 km spin coast to coast on Sunday. (only 30 kms of rain )
The TL is 8 years old now but once bought up to spec is fairly easy to maintain with more major strip downs depending how and what it has been ridden in winter wise. :scooter:
I am waiting for a break in the weather to do a Cape and back but might be dreaming on how long that might take.
