What do you guys think about these bikes? Im talking about the late model ones a 04/05 model. How fast are they and whats the handling like? ps are there 06 models or have they stopped being made?

Good bikes, fairly solid. Not fast though, and heavy. More of a touring machine. I know some people that are very happy with them.
186kg dry, ~35hp.
Not made anymore.

Hey, I own the 04 model. I've had it for 3-4weeks and it is a really nice bike to learn on. It is pretty hard to stall, forgiving and reliable. The only slight downsides I have found with it is that it is heavy (but that helps it sit pretty still in heavy wind) It is quite tall for me, but I'm pretty short, and it isn't very exciting as far as power goes.
I find it is a really good tourer, once your up at 100Kph and going... It is really economical.
PM me if you want

Hey mate I haven't owned one so can't say much. But from what very little I know and as stated before they are heavy for 250cc. But again it could be something you like in that bike.
I know the earlier models had problems with brakes and discs rusting fast not sure about the late 04 05 models. Besides that they look good especially the blue ones plus they are reliable Suzuki bikes.
If you want something lighter than look into the New Kawasaki GPX. :)

great learner bike. I have had one for about 4 months. It is pretty heavy, and pretty solid. Not as fast as alot of other 250's but u dont want to step into a bike thats too fast if ure learning anyway.
As mentioned, great for touring, and very economical. They are hard to get parts for etc b/c people tend to hold onto them and sell parts on trademe, so for instance getting parts off a wrecker is a bit of a problem, and the parts from suzuki are real expensive :shit:

I have a 1990 GSXR 250, far from the same bike I know, I just took a likeing to the older, cheaper bike :p
I did however test drive an '04 GSX 250, it was very nice to ride, good bike for the money. If youve found one you like, Id say go for it, and I have a manual I can email you if you need it (.PDF)

i owned a blue 2003 gsx250 they are a nice bike, not fast but it was alright, big though. the only problem i had was the centre stand, it bent. it was hollow metal tube. anyways i took it was to the dealer and they straightened it and weilded a small metal plate to it which was good.

Top speed is 180 and with an un-modified bike I would defintly be thinking that was the top speed. Unless you rode it hard with a very long straight. I haven't ridden many bikes at all but compered to the RG150 and ZXR250's the acceleration is pretty slow... still beats most cars though.

Are you in Ashburton? I don't think it was you... never know though

Hey, I don't know much about the gpx's, I would also like to know what the diffrence is... personally I like the look of the GSX more though... can any one help Vetran and myself out here?
I think the reason why there is no info on the net about gsx's are because they are quite new... But some one else probably has a propper explanation and reason for that too :D

GPX and GSX - both parallel twin engines.
GPX = 140kg
GSX = 180kg
GPX is still in production using 15 year old technology
GSX is no longer in production used 20 year old technology
These are the titbits of info I picked up during weeks of searching before I bought a VTR 250.
It's getting harder to find fast 250s now because the worldwide 250 market is not lucerative for bike manufacturers any more - Japan has power restrictions and in Australia you can ride bigger engined bikes. In most of Europe the 125cc is the learner limit too. New Zealand is just too little to have any impact.
