I gots me a new toy......:scooter:

It's a bit of a change going from a CBR600RR to an SV1000s!

It's a shit day outside today, so I've been installing an alarm and battery monitor, giving it a good once over adjusting levers and things and finding out where everything is, and occasionally starting it up just to hear that 90 degree V twin through Yoshi pipes.

Roll on summer!:sunny:

What's the clutch slave cylinder grommet all about? Is it a service mod to fix/prevent a problem?

spank has another site for SV1000 check out http://www.sv-portal.com/

there is a heap of useful stuff and a bunch of the KBers are also on that site.

I also like http://www.suzukisv1000.com/ check out the FAQ section under the maintenance section there is a mod there called "K3 & early K4 clutch slave cylinder mod" http://www.suzukisv1000.com/faq/clutch3.htm

Congrats Allun. Used to own one of those and it did me well. I'm curious about the change from the 600 though. Willing to share your reasons? I got my first ride on a modern 600 this weekend and I was very impressed with the handling especially, but also the power. Can't match the sound or instant gratification of a 1000cc v-twin though.

The reasons for the change are many and varied....a brief insight -

I may be carless soon, with bike being primary transport. The 600RR was a buttload of fun and an amazing machine, but modern sportsbikes of a certain pedigree (R6, 600RR, ZX-6R, GSX-R etc) are very narrowly focussed - they are track machines. Note the 'R' in every model name - 'R' for 'RACER'. The CBR was not ideal for primary transport, because it had no carrying capacity, pillion accomodation was crap (Bekki likes the SV's pillion seat!) and it wasn't so good in the wet (again, because of the chassis and suspension setup etc all being biased towards performance rather than forgiveness.) The CBR needed to be ridden at highish revs all the time to be at it's best...the SV pulls like a mule at any revs.

The CBR did sound cool (with aftermarket system) - and the engineer in me appreciates the sheer engineering effort that goes into making a 600cc inline 4 that revs to around 15,000rpm easily, with about the same amount of power as a lot of cars......BUT. A big V-twin just sounds like it has BALLS.

More to come once i have....well......run at least one tank through the thing! Only picked it up on Friday night and the weather has been a big crap so far - typical labour weekend huh?

Just wait man, few more years and you'll trade the SV in for a crusier.

Definitely get the cruiser bro. :msn-wink:
Those seemed like sound reasons for the change. Enjoy the SV, and don't be frightened to put a smaller front sprocket on it. Mine lapped it up.

Needs a KB sticker now - the CBR looked so good with the matching yellow sticker that I left it on.

Can we get a silver KB sticker? :dodge:

Definitley.....when i have some $$$$$ to spare!
would have to cut holes int he lower fairings for the oggy knobbs though...

Lower fairings are next on my wish list - for now i have to make do with the toys i have fitted and am still in the process of fittig - crash knobs, yoshi pipes, rear hugger, rear fender removal kit, alarm, battery monitor, radar detector...... :scooter:
