Right!
I'm selling my drums.
Sometimes things change in life and you have to do stuff, so here goes.
Fantastic opportunity to own a top level kit.
Drum Workshop (DW) Collector Series in Emerald Burst with gold lugs:
Toms:
10"x12"
12"x14"
14"x16"
Beautiful rich tone. Currently fitted with Remo Renaissance heads.
Bass Drum:
18"x20" Cannon.
This drum is unique in that it has no hardware other than tuning lugs attached. Drum sits on a D'Amico bass drum riser, allowing you to set the drum up so that your bass drum beater strikes dead centre.
This drum has the original DW heads and can whisper quietly or thunder as required.
Snare Drum:
Pacific Drums (DW's beginner and Intermediate kits) Wood Hoop 5 1/2"x14" Snare drum.
If you like "woody" snare drums then you'll love this one. Warmth, sustain, and the "pop" characteristic of a wood snare abounds.
The Snare drum stand has had the protective rubber claws replaced to fit the extra wide wood hoops into the snare stand basket.
Hardware:
Pearl Hi-Hat stand. This is a robust stand with swivelling legs and easily adjustable footboard tension. Just reach down and turn the knurled knob to get the pedal feel perfect.
3 x DW boom cymbal stands
1x Double tom stand
1x Single tom adapter.
Bag of tension rods and a spare tom memory lock.
Drum Shell pack cost $10,000 3 years ago.
Looking to get $5500. Will discuss price with KB members.

This is truly sad, Jim.
BUT - if you have to sell, then PLEASE don't sell yourself short on the price.

What happens if Pearl Jam needs a new drummer now?

They'll hire someone good.

He's selling his kit not the skills he's learnt over these many long years...

But aren't green drums unlucky? Like....you don't think someone who had a green drum kit might crash their bike or anything do you?..??

They'll hire someone good.
If I do prove her haggard,
Though that her jesses were my dear heart-strings,
I'd whistle her off and let her down the wind,
To prey at fortune.

Exactly. Time to get one with a nice kind of white finish I reckon. One that's a bit more "Bonzo".

Hmmm. that Gretsch kit looks mint.
I would have thought Drum Workshop stuff was higher quality than the Gretsch though.
Please tell me you're not giving it away completely? We still haven't had that jam yet...
James Deuce
23rd October 2006, 21:41
Depends what level of Gretsch kit you're buying. Gretsch have been around a lot longer than DW and their top end stuff is probably more sought after than the DW stuff.
Giving it away? I haven't done "it" for 3 years now. Have to fix the bathroom up and buy bunks.
Life? Don't talk to me about life.
Motu
23rd October 2006, 21:45
Even Jeremy Clarkson has a bigger kit than that!
James Deuce
23rd October 2006, 22:05
There's one edition of that kit in NZ.
http://www.rockshop.co.nz/04/start.php
It's $17k.
All the toms are the same size.
Keith Moon was mental.
The Gretsch I'm looking at has a 16"x26" Bass Drum. Even Keef never had a Bass Drum that big.

Because he sold his drum kit a while back too :sunny:

Bugger Jim, all the best with the sale mate. Always wanted to try drumming, but Im getting a bit old and the noise hurts my ears*
*(Read: Im totally uncordinated and I would look like a small hyperactive octopus on speed)
James Deuce
24th October 2006, 07:15
Everyone does Sniper and at the risk of activating my curmudgeon gene, everyone can learn to play any musical instrument.
Whether they choose to put in the back breaking amount of work in necessary to "get good" is a different matter.
In 10 years of teaching I only ever fired 1 student for being a gumby, and I think he had other issues anyway. Completely incapable of listening, either to music or to an instructor.

You've met me, haven't you? I never realised until very recently that Derek & Clive's "The Piano Lesson" sketch was supposed to be funny.
I blame my older sister. She got the "musical ability" genes that should have been mine, as well as hers.

Pictures are in the very first post. I'm keeping cymbals and my DW double pedal as I am buying cheaper drums.
I have about 20 cymbals in fundamentally two setups, and I really don;t want to start that process all over again.
I will deliver them personally should you buy them
yungatart

Got any pictures and a price?
Also Jim, what are you doing with your cymbals?? What brand/series are they?
If I had the audacity to sell hXc's kit, I wouldn't live to tell about it - buy Jim's it is way better than hXc's - unless you want to pay enough for hXc's to allow him to buy Jims...with a cash surplus as well:innocent:

I was pretending to ignore the fact that he meant the Yamaha kit, though heaven's knows why a Suzuki rider would want to buy a Yamaha kit when everyone knows Yamahas crash all by themselves.

Pommy git.
Don't knock it - that Spaniel gives good head...and Dover's a jock not a pom...albeit from English stock.
Best of luck with the sale - I tried drums once but couldn't work out where the mouthpiece went (trumpet player joke)

I saw a fantastic little cornet in Salzburg - in a Mozart musical instrument shop - travel size and in red/blue/silver to gold fade.... Looking for sponsors to stump up the 300 euro to buy it....:innocent:

Blimey!! Just how many drummers are there on KBer?? Can anyone list them?
Have you made a sale yet Jim? If not...good luck with it.
I couldn't imagine not playing. I need my percussion fix in the same way as I do my biking fix. Been doing it for 40 odd years! You'd think at my age I'd need to slow down but they keep telling me I speed up! Bloody bass players!
Check out www.pukekos.co.nz for pics and bios if you're interested.

Talking of bass players... my band is on the look-out for one, so if anyone is one (or happens to know one) who may be into blues-based rock covers and originals then PM me please. Wellington/Kapiti/Hutt area. Gigs in the diary so its pretty urgent. Goes without saying we need someone who is committed, experienced, has own transport etc. Age: 35-50 preferably. Cheers people.

Just sequence it ceebee. Bass players are flakes without the wrapper. They drop bits everywhere, melt in mild temperatures, and fall apart under stress.

It's true.
Bass players are manic depressives.
Drummers are substance abusers.
And guitarists and vocalists are just ego trippers.
Buggered if I know where Dover fits in...

Them things is called Pocket Trumpets and they're made of shit metal and plastic coated. They're alright for keeping your lip in shape if you're travelling and space is at a premium but apart from the novelty aspect they're not really performance instruments.

I know but it would be fun to have one to carry around and take to cricket games and sit and practice a bit in the park..... I have a Getzen (nothing great, but medium bore so it at least sounds cool :) ) to do anything else on
