If you mean a ZX9R, so long as it looks well cared for, receipts for oil changes etc.. you'll be fine. Budget for a major service though, it just makes sense on a bike of that age. Winja seems to love them, and the bike mags reckon they're not too slow for their age.

Sounds like it is a GPZ900, 6 k sounds a little steep if it is that model.

well it is a 94 zx-9r ninja and upon further inspection looks in really rough condition cracks here and there missing bolts so i dont even think i"ll bother riding it as it could be a pile of junk if anyone is in auckland could you pop into colemans and give me your impression of it see if you can ride it and see what you make of it for me .

For a 94? Na, theirs a 99 on TM like mine which would be a way better choice, lighter, and beast of an engine

THAT 94 HAD A SMALL PROBLEM WITH THE GEOMETRY THE SWING ARM PIVOT WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE GOOD STRONG MOTORS BUT IN ALL SERIOUSNESS YOU WANT A 98(C1) OR LATER , THEY ARE CHEAP AND AS FAST AS A 98 R1 IN A STRAIGHT LINE , HANDLING AND COMFORT IS PRETTY GOOD AS WELL , IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A BIKE IN THAT PRICE RANGE THE GSXR 750 96 (T) OR LATER IS AN AWESOME BIKE

Like winja says, get a 98 or later.
Very under-rated bikes.
