Just remember to pack all your polyprops and a nice warm sleeping bag. :)

I suppose I'd better get my arse to it this year then!!

One of the better rallies is the Brass Monkey down south. Queens birthday every year. Awesome ride. If from the north though you need to get your ferry tickets real early. Too late now I'd exspect.

A group of about 10 from Wanganui are heading down again this year (one has 12 under his belt). Again we left it a little late and are catching the 1am ferry so will be doing a night ride again!. Bloody cold!.

Anyone else going to the BM from this  forum?

Usually a group of us from Wgtn go to the Cold Kiwi

Last year was the first time in 15years we missed going, definitely going this year. Usually an adventure ride somewhere, last time up through Paraparas 6 bikes in a line going for it.

Get a group together for the rally, its more fun. Keep off the main ( revenue collecting )roads as strangely the roads are quite often heavily policed on rally weekends.

Another good rally will be the WIMA rally in November 21st to 23rd this year being held in Tokomaru Bay, East Cape. Good camping spot (right on the beach), good roads to get there & at that time of year will be nice & warm

Oh Yes,

The COLD KIWI RALLY - gives me the shakes to even think of it.

I was so cold, I thought I would freeze to deaf if I went completely

to sleep..... I went to sleep anyway, eventually. Didn't die of

frozen-vein disease.

Then, some arse-brained biker REVVED HIS BIKE UP precisely

at 6.00am.

I will never go to another Cold Kiwi Rally without taking along

A NICE, CLEAN, FRIENDLY  WARM  man to snuggle up to.

Yep,

Very Cold, rather drunk, seriously happy, good music/dancing

from excellent band, excellent tucker, and a

fine, fast, ride home to a deep, hot bath.

Who's going down this year from Auckland ??

Count me in........:D

A Group of us nomally go from south Auckland friday morning, arrive early and set up your site before the crowds arrive... get a fire drum if you want to socialise at your tent . but go prepared for any weather, it is sunny, warm to Wet , cold normally in the same hour.

Coldkiwi
2nd July 2003, 17:40

Pickle

There will be a group of us from Wellington going up Sat morning if anyone from this way is interested. Normally back roads with perhaps the odd gravel road.

Possibly leaving from the Plimmerton weigh station around 8am

Ohh coldkiwi rally, i must go

oh, PICK ME PICK ME MITCH!... oh no wait.. did i read ur birthday wrong?... such a shame, maybe if u were ten years younger :P

bahahahaha!

the times when it sux2b young.. i honestly wish i was born in the 50s/60s to have lived/ridin thru the whole biker time when everybody rode and chicks loved it :( i swear to god its their mothers that have now ruined it scareing them away from bikes...  So exactly when is coldkiwi rally? ---old old old (im talkin really old) ex (from like when i was 11 or 12) has cought up with me again and im serious when she actually said she wanted to go out on the back of my bike with me!!! i was thinking like "wtf? did your mother not teach you right when u was young?" nah haha! its all good, but yay, shes one of i think 3 females that have dared to jump on bike with me, and thats not including my mum :done:

Mitch
25th July 2003, 09:18
:angry2:    Isn't that just bloody typical.......... One volunteer and he's young enough to be my son (well not quite :D )

Be careful though KK   If you were brn in the 50's we wouldn't love you as much as we do cause you would just be some burned out old man on a BMW hehe

(Mitch runs and ducks for cover from old BMW riders)

Burned out?? at 50+?? Hey Mitch, I've got news for you. Some of us are better are 50 than we were at 20. So the flames sometimes need a bit of chemical ecouragement :D so what??

You ain't seen nothing yet. Look at the demography: grey power rulz!

(Sorry KK, but in the contest between youth and enthusiasm, and age and experience, you can't automatically assume you'll be the winner...)

Am I right, ladies??

Dave

Heaters are fine,in fact more than fine,Downright cosy.
Even the sweet smell of bacon and eggs on our bar b q is o.k.

This isn't sounding like the sufferfest that I thought it was intended to be.:o

How is all this stuff being transported on a bike ?

If someone has a hot shower and flushing toilet I may be tempted to turn up.:done:

sounds like you belong at Tahuna. Surreal. a couple of days of boiling your drinking water and carting your own rubbish out of the able tasman park, to be greeted by mega tent city. ive never seen so many huge suvs at once.

25th July 2003, 23:35
agreed george!

and guys I FIXED MY ZXR400! YAY NO MORE 2 CYLANDERS! i honestly didnt know a bike needed carbs to run... :o haha! after further inspection it seems that after the high speed highsideon dirt/barrell roll, that made my tank literally fly a good 100m (full!) it tore my carbs off the back of the engine :gob: seriously! lucky it didnt tear the rubber itself, but rather jujst ripped it out of its little seal bracket thingys on back side of motor! fuckme! and also i decided to take carbs off fully and clean/inspect, only to find they were gummed up hardout with black shit and sad etc, when i say hardout u know what i mean.. it doesnt take much, carbs are ment to be perfectly clean! but yeah, the jets were a little blocked etc, everything blown out with compressor, mixture on all 4 was almost even or at least within 1/16" of eachother (in terms of turns) so i made them dead equal, despite knowing that somtimes guys do it to even them as they wear uneven or somthing my dad told me.  So yay for the ZXR, AUGUST 2nd i might b there and riding on my ZXR400, with near bald front tyre and same back tyre i slipped off last time! but more experience and lots less confident :) yay,  Its on mitch! but im telling you now, i will b a pushover, the zxr is slow so it doesnt hide my faulty slowness, damn, not even 1/2 of the 2 main things needed to b fast i have.. damn :P

Mitch
27th July 2003, 01:12
:D YEHA  I get to play with KK.

:o  Shit, what if he is faster then me   :angry2:

Now wouldn't that be imbaressing :p

Looking forward to it KK!!!!

Kwaka-Kid
27th July 2003, 09:22
hate to bring you down when ur on such a high there mitch.. but slapped those carbs on.. pressed the "go" button... and no go :( bugger it! piece of crap. hmm not sur enow, i think its low battery, ill jump start off van later hopefully b4 work @ midday, and see how it goes, im sure once i get that initial start with clean carbs etc it will go forever :)  and mitch, this means its looking a little doubtful, however i will endevour to make it there just to watch even, and if i do come out, it will be on stuffed old tyres i fell off on last time :) - its the hard road of learning isnt it? just dont tell my mum coz i told her i was buying new ones b4 that bike goes onroad/ontrack again :P

Coldkiwi
28th July 2003, 12:34
KK... instead of blathering on about how you have 5 piles of crap that don't work, why don't you just sell the 4 crappiest ones and use the money to fix the RVF properly!? *shock horror* you could even BUY some new parts!

seriously, it's painful to read about your bodging and then think you're gonna go riding on it!

Kwaka-Kid
28th July 2003, 13:55
yeah i know, well i only have 3 piles of crap now :)  2x are sold.

so there we go, just ZXR400 (Street bike) which once done in next few weeks will prolly be solde, RVF400, race only, and GPZ750turbo, special bike :)

Coldkiwi
28th July 2003, 17:16
mate... just bin the zxr400... it's in worse condition than the RVF right?... since you're no where near getting into racing (lets be honest here)  use the RVF on the street and if you ever get round to ACTUAL racing (I can hear mitch laughing from here) then pull the lights, mirrors and plate off and go for it!

as for the GPZ.... I dunno.. does it still run?!

bikerboy
28th July 2003, 17:47
CK, the most painful bit is the fact, correct me if I'm wrong KK, that when KK first bought the RVF400, it was in a perfectly rideable condition.:argh:

Dave
28th July 2003, 17:51
c.k. i'm with you-it's painful.
Like i said somewhere else- The fastest guy never to race a bike.
Come on KK get it together,
you work more jobs than al of us put together, stop buying porn and put your RVF together.

Pickle
28th July 2003, 18:13

Of course, we were going to organise a BBQ, weren't we?????

Think. Sausages. Think. BBQ. Think "SAUSAGE SIZZLE".

Got any spare????

:( Um. It's a worry, the whole warm male thing. Cos unless you take your own, and know that they're warm and friendly like, there's just so many guys there it's complete overload. U can get high on all these men in black leathers - ooodles of 'em.

:gob: Too many to choose from. End up in yr tent, alone and freezing to death.

No :love   Sad. Ask yr mates if you can share the tent not necessarily anything else and take all yr thermals and big thick sleeping bag, inflatable mattress, blanket etc.

You'll be thoroughly inaccessible under all that anyway.:D

Want volunteers ?  They are probly reading this thread right now.......

Kwaka-Kid
29th July 2003, 00:29
ok - go read hte august 2nd @ puke thread, it will tell you my problems with time and that im in a bad MOOD AND LOOSING SLEEP POSTING THIS, but still i do it, im dumb.

firstly, money is not the issue, now on the quite i have exactly $6.75K just sitting, for hte RVF, point is im too damned stubborn to let anyone else work on my bike but me, i want the enjoyment out of it, half the fun is doing homejobs on stuff, and seconly i really am pushed for time atm.  So what im saying there is money isnt the issue, i also have a problem parting with money :)  i save it all and only ever spend it on beer in the weekends, and lets face it, @ 17 its pretty economic drinking :)

As for hte BBQ, HELL YES, AGUUST 22nd FOR SURE (so long as kool with mitch) aiight? ill post this in the right thead later, im tired and have to wakeup @ 5am when dad wakes up and make early start to put instruments back on RVF etc... as for putting it back on street, far to fucking late, it would cost a fortune, ive ruined it for street already.

Now, that i think ive cleared most of the stuff up here (and sorry to sound like a prick and all) just not in good mood, but i think i might sleep... oh and the fastest ever to race or whatever u said, haha its too true, but just know that im getting almost as much enjoyment plodding away on my bike around my 50+ hour weeks/the extra whatever hours i have left helping family and freinds as i would racing the thing, its f-ing great, go on, do all the work on ur bike oneday, every last bit, its actually alot of fun, unfortunatly it doesnt often end up very safe/fast :P lol, sorry, dunno if that made sense, but made me smile and im still tired, i think i have that insomnia thingy so come here and post, sleeping is f-ing boring, but i feel like it, yet cant do it, argh, well this is it, im grabbin 1 beer, relaxing, then hitting sack. nite all

bikerboy
29th July 2003, 10:25
After reading that last post I don't think KK has time to have his sausage sizzled.:o

Then again maybe that's the problem.....too much work....to little sizzle.:D

Coldkiwi
29th July 2003, 12:42
HEHEHE... nice one BB

I thought we all got enjoyment from RIDING bikes not just fixing them? maybe we should start a www.kiwibikerbodgerandmechanic.co.nz (http://www.kiwibikerbodgerandmechanic.co.nz/) website for KK :)

dude.. if you have the $$ then get on with it! how many more race meetings/track days/ awesome fine weekend rides do you have to miss before you smell the flowers?

...i still can't believe you actively buggered your only good condition street machine to turn it into some racing.. thing...

as for the :Offtopic: ... good point.. i'd better go find a 4 season tent to borrow!

Kwaka-Kid
29th July 2003, 13:11
hahaha well i have sleep now and am feeling good :)

What you dont know are the Details: Minor detail i might add, The bike cant be road rego'd at least to my name even in this country aiight!

so despite being road lgal/worthy, it cannot have papers esp. put into my name, i shall not go into detail as to why, just know thats the way it is :)

and i went out, grabbed clutch cable for GS, slapped it on, finished bolting some crap on RVF (5mins really) and got that dishwasher for aunty, and still i have heaps of crap to do inc. setting up XP on this machine ive finished building, and yeah, id scan my list of approx 20things to do to RVF b4 it touches track, but i dont have the time really, maybe later.

Mitch
29th July 2003, 19:46
KK give me your bike and the parts and I will put it back together and get it going for you!!!  FREE OF CHARGE!!!

Kwaka-Kid
29th July 2003, 22:23
are you talking about my ZXR400 mitch? if so all i need to do is takeoff carbys and check floats etc then throw back on, then throw everything back on, realistically it aint shit all time, but in little bits and pieces of time it takes 4eva :)  and sorry, i almost considerd it but then you would be getting the fun out of somthing of mine, and not even paying me, i honestly do look @ it like that, so no, dont take my fun! :p

Dave

we take down a fleet of A100's for fanging on,so we'll end up camped quite far from the main tent-good for sleeping.
look out for 6 or 8 A100's, a big tent, the elf racing van, An electric fridge,2 gas heaters and a couple of gas BBQ's.

I did meet up with a guy with a phone camera so there will be some shots of

a Mad Max impersonator/maybe the real guy doing a burnout on his rim. the video (see it to beleive it) will be on www.hoons.com (http://www.hoons.com) at some point later in the year when the site is running.
a CBR 900 with both tyres/rims rooted after hitting potholes from taumaranui
maybe pics of the 10m wide bonfire?
hopefully pics of the guy on a GSXR 750 doing a hill climb with a knobbly tyre and a pissed guy trying to spray everyone with mud from his old moto guzzi.

but sadly no pics of the ZX-12R's number plate cut clean in half by the steel belts from the tyre when it exploded on the burnout pad!!

awesome time... saturday morning was THE time to ride down: no rain, clear roads, not too cold and had sweet ride back in the sun until 20k out of matamata but it was only patchy squalls.

Dave
9th September 2003, 11:10
Yeah, the guys beside us were putting butane cylinders in their fire-very cool-until one of them came and stuck a suspicious wrapped object in our fire and then fucked off (claiming it was a spud).
Still, it didn't blow up so that was a save. specially considering the petrol station we had going-20l unleaded,10l race gas and a bottle of nitromethane. all to keep the A100's performing all weekend.

Coldkiwi
