We've had 81 990cc four-stroke races in MotoGP with one more coming up. The winners' honour roll over that time looks like this:

Rossi 45 wins
Gibernau 8 wins
Capirossi 6
Melandri 5
Biaggi 5
Barros 3
Hayden 3
Tamada 2
Pedrosa 2
Elias 1
Ukawa 1

That's why I want to see him win the championship this year (among other reasons), a total whitewash of the 990cc MotoGP era.

There are two riders in Honda,One is a little rooster who is fifth in the world championship, and the other is a leader who’s all alone.

muwhahaha fuck I laughed when I read the above

Its been a long fuckin time since gibby has been anywhere near the sharp end though, never should of got into mind games with the Dr look where Biaggi is these days.

He's the best; probably ever.

And apparently he can put a few away as well. There's a story that he got little Dani absolutely smashed after his first world title.

So true ! I've seen him there and it's special. Missed this year but will be there 2007. Gaz.

Rossi is like the Schaumaker (sp) of the biking world...

Not really, Schumaker(?) is generally thought now to have been a bit too "win at all cost". Almost to the extent of being a cheat.

Rossi has always given the impression that he's having a great time.

As for Rossi's skulling skills, he did used to have a brewery (Nastro Azzura?) for a sponsor so he could practice cheap enough.

I meant in terms of winning not "how' they win...

*doesn't know fuckall about car racing other than schaumaker being pretty damn good and winning all the time*

Rossi left HRC coz the bike was too good and he needed a challenge. He took a dog slow yamaha to the world title the next year. He is GOD.
Schumacher has had the best car for years until the powers that be changed the rules to stop him, give me Senna any day.

Funny that once Renault had its cheating mass damper system removed was about the same time that Alonso started to stop preforming this year...

Not only that (and it wasn't really because the bike was too good, just everyone said it was) but Honda were calling all the shots, not allowing Rossi and Burgess to try as they please. Yamaha were more than willing to let them make the calls. He experienced the same in his 250cc days.

Also Honda tried to flex their corporate muscle by offering Rossi a no frills contract pretty much the same as Ukawa was on. When he approached Davide Brivio about joining Yamaha, Brivio had a hard time convincing the Japanese Yamaha execs that Rossi was serious. They were like, why would he want to leave Honda and come and ride our bike?

An analogy.

Why wouldn't the All Blacks only play Japan and Canada and the US??

As then they would never be known as the best would they. A crap vehicle is like tough opposition to a racer.

Nah, it'd be more like Dan Carter or Richie McCaw suggesting they might like to join Auckland!! :gob:

The Yamaha wasnt actually that bad a bike, certainly Rossi knew it was pretty close to being a winner. Its not like he went knocking on Suzuki's door now ,was it or Kawasaki. Personally I'd loved to have seen him on a Nastro Azzuro sponsered Aprilia Cube, but he certainly wasnt ever going to be that brave.

Kick Rossi's arse? :gob: You can't even beat Dangerous anymore and he's riding a bike about 25 years older than yours! So when are you getting off that learners bike and getting back on a real bucket?? :scooter:

Ummm as I recall the Yamahas routinely finished after all the Hondas, down around 10, 11, 12th. After Rossi joined Yamaha the finishing order was in the order of 1st, 11th, 12th.

Jeremy Burgess says, "In F1 it's 80% the car 20% the driver, in Moto GP it's the other way around". Unfortunately for Honda there is just the one genius available, and due entirely to their own cock-up, he now rides a Yamaha.

I think it should be "team" not "rider", as Rossi's crew, Burgess included, are part of the reason he is where he is.

I think they still sponsor him, Im sure he's got a little logo somewhere on his leathers.

Entirely because of the Rossi connection I bought a Nastro Azzura in Sydney last year. The price was pretty steep as I recall, I suspected I was paying part of the million dollars that he earned that week :-)

Or Nakano fourth?

And for those who are still sceptical as to the difference between Rossi and other riders just look where all the other Yamaha riders are: 10th 16th & 19th.

Was pleased to see Edwards has a new contract with Yamaha too.

Granted the other Yamaha riders aren't on the same equipment as Rossi.
As could be witnessed at the last round where Edwards bike got a bit of an overhaul and he could just about stick with Rossi for most of the race.
Edwards has had to modify his riding style to be able to use the Yammy to the best advantage (ie similar to Rossi's style).
Its gonna be a primo race, hopefully little Pedrosa doesn't take Rossi out.....

He has skill, just not the right bike to be able to finish at the pointy end
