GPS Speed Camera / Red Light Data ? (Navman/Garmin)

Has anyone got the data files for speed camera & red lights (not sure what red lights are exactly) for New Zealand? I think it's in the form of .csv files, and you load it onto your in-car GPS to warn you of static speed cameras... Otherwise any links to them, paid or un-paid?

Thank you for the info and replies, I appreciate your help. I'll take a look at that site, as well as at the info I'm getting elsewhere, and I'll let you know how I get on with adding the data to my Navman.

nigelp - What sort of Navman do you have? I certainly don't know for sure as I am a beginner at this game, but I think there might be a good chance that adding the speed camera data to any of the new (or even older) Navmans will be quite similar. On my one anyway, the iCN720, you do it through the SmartST Desktop 2006 application that comes with the Navman unit.

I'll be in touch, probably in a few weeks though. If you beat me to it, please let me know how you get on, and even share your camera data files.

Sorry, no disrespect meant to you, thanks for the info...

The reason for the laughing is that Navman have NO support on the NZ Navman website, for New Zealand customers for the following areas (for the iCN720):

1) NO Map / PC Software
2) NO Accessories (Power Cables, Carry Cases, Data Cables, Mounting Brackets, nothing)
3) NO NavPix
4) NO Speed Camera Data
5) NO registration page for the iCN720 accessible via the website

(i.e. NO online store for NZ)
If you want to register your iCN720 online, you have to e-mail tech support and ask them for the link to the registration page.
If you want maps, software, accessories, etc, you have to go to retail stores (WHO ALL SAY THEY HAVE NO ACCESSORIES YET, NOTHING, NADA, ZIP, FOR THE iCN720).
Even though the iCN720 NavPix feature is advertised to NZ'ers as being able to be downloaded and installed on the device, there is no data for people in NZ. Same goes for Speed Camera Data.

Thank goodness that Navman isn't a NZ company and thank heavens that the iCN720 isn't the top/flagship model, or this all would be terribly fucken ironic and pathetic...

Thanks to Lou Girardin for supplying me with the cameras.csv file - That's an MS Excel "Comma Separated Values" file of the coordinates and description of all the speed cameras in NZ. This is what I used (and what Navman GPS's require) to install them on the GPS unit.

(NigelP posted a website below, which is an ok resource, however it has 2 big drawbacks. 1) All the coordinates that are available are in html form (as a web page), and therefore would have to be entered manually (very very long process), and 2) Not all the cameras listed have the coordinates, and of those listed not all of them are confirmed. I don't know for certain if the cameras.csv file I got from Lou is accurate, but I have no reason to think otherwise, and will soon find out.)

The Process:
This is obviously for Navman GPS units (the iCN range, specifically the iCN720, but I presume it's similar/identical for preceeding or different models).

The SmartST Desktop Application is the software program that comes with the Navman, which you use to install, remove or otherwise change map software on the GPS unit. You also use this program to add, remove or edit POI's (Points of Interest) on the Navman GPS (POI's show up on the GPS as you drive along, and you can use POI's as a destination point too).

When you have your GPS connected to the computer (with Microsoft ActiveSync running in the background automatically - PS: there's a new version available from Microsoft's ActiveSync WebPage (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7269173a-28bf-4cac-a682-58d3233efb4c&displaylang=en)) and you run the SmartST Desktop Application, once it's loaded and sync'd to your GPS:

1) Click "Map" on the toolbar, and under the dropdown list click "Points Of Interest..." and the POI Editor opens.
2) Click "File" on the POI Editor's toolbar, and click "Open Text File" under the dropdown list.
3) Open the Cameras.csv file.
4) Once the .csv file is open, click "File" on the POI Editor toolbar, and click "Save To Device..." on the dropdown list.
5) Select the POI settings that you want that appear before the data gets transfered (e.g. distance from camera before alert/notification, icon for the POI, importance of POI over other POI's in the same area, etc... For speed cameras I'd recommend choosing MAX importance, so they are always alerted over any other POI's in the same area...) - Click "OK" and you're done :gob:

It really is that easy, I was pleasantly surprised :Punk:

It did get us there EVENTUALLY! however there was some last minute direction changes and U-turns if memory serves...that said I was very drunk and trying to snooze

I got what I needed. Thanks all! I show a total of 71 speed camera's in the csv file I have... I attached it to this message, in case anyone else needs it. Rename the file from .doc to .csv to use it...
