Left for an early morning ride hoping to beat the rain, nah ah. Managed to squeeze in a bacon and egg McD's headed north up the valley then down it came. Murphy's law home and dried off the bike and it has stopped raining, no wait a minute it's started again, no, yes no, yes...
Practised during the week - counter steering in the carpark then up and down Blue Mountains Road, Whitemans Valley half a dozen times. It's a good 1.5km run with many turns on a good gradient.
Heads Up and Enjoy

Been nowhere, only just got out of bed and the weather looks crap over our side so probably go out in the car.
Spent yesterday cleaning up the bike gear from last week's ride in the Bay because it was so foul when we got back that I didn't bother even unpacking properly.
Damn El Nino. OK Ok so I should move to the East Coast (Of NZ or Aus).

Still raining over here too, flag it for the rest of the day I'd say.
If I was going back to Aus, reckon it would be Perth and southward from there, some good riding Perth - Esperance - Kalgoolie - Perth.

Did some gardening (ie. getting rid of some (real) weeds) - hate this part of house keeping.
Washed the bike, watched two dvds.

Well yesterday I thought I would not be on the bike and doing family stuff. I get the word from Dad that nothings happening at 7.45am Saturday.
I shot like a bat out of hell out of there! Donned full gears and blatted to Caltex Bombay to meet up with some riders going to the Sulphur City Rally! I wasn't going to be staying the night - just an excuse to go for a little pottle down to Rotovegas!
It was hilarious! At one stage we were stop starting and I eventually lost the main group in a town (heaps of traffic all decided to pull out in front of me!) Waited at Cambridge (which was raining cats and dogs) and got a txt from adiddy. Meet at Rotorua. Sweet. So I got to fang it by myself down and saw the crew all parked up on a side berm!
Only incident was one rider pulled up by the local HP and we pootled to the rally point. Watched WarlockNZ pitch a tent, other gormless souls pretending they couldn't put up their tent so they could get some ladies to help them :rol:
Then Silverado and I pulled out and pootled back to Hamiltron for a late lunch - where I managed to just run out of fuel from the main tank on a roundabout...and I had to jigger around working it out! The last hour back to Dorkland was gratefully done when we pulled into BP Takanini.
Nice day for a ride and unexpected bonus for me!
Today, it will be maintenance on the bike - have just done the garden, turning it over and weeding. Will definitely go out for a pootle regardless of weather today!

i just riding across town today to go do some work and i learned a good lesson.
Cops in holdens are just as likely to come into your lane as normal cars and try to take you out. i thought these guys are meant to be good drivers, he didn't look and he didn't even acknowledge me an opps, sorry or nothing. would have been interesting if he had taken me out while he was transporting two people in panmure......

After an excellent day at the track yesterday, I rode home (from Taupo) in the wind and rain. Didn't practice anything as this was for real.... skills used - keeping bike on the road with severe crosswinds on the Hauraki plains and overtaking trucks in the rain when there is massive waterspay

Yesterday I practised being on the back of an SV1000S wearing leather trousers instead of cordura ones (conclusion: leather sticks to the seat better so I don't slide forward under heavy braking, but makes it much harder to get on and off a high pillion seat).
Then I practised going to Muriwai on back of the said SV and trying to dismount gracefully at a busy cafe while leathers were stuck to seat. Thought I managed quite well. Then ordered coffee and spilled it on new Sidi boots. :( All carefully-preserved dignity was lost at that point.
Then I practised being on the back of a Bandit 1200 (moving) a GS1200S (stationary) and a RF900 (stationary).
Discovered the back seat of the Bandit wasn't particularly more comfortable than the SV - a surprising conclusion because I expected it to feel like an armchair by comparison.
The seat on the GS was way too short for two people. That's short from front to back, not in height. Or maybe our combined leg-length was too long. Or our butts to fat. Or something.
Decided the RF900 has potential and we will take it for a test ride another day.
Today I practised staying inside out of the rain and dreaming of the day I'll be on the FRONT SEAT of a bike. :D
