Just bought a new bike - a 1986 (I think) Honda TLR250R trials bike. Pretty good condition apart from split rear fender. The motor sounds and runs mint - albiet not a lot of power and gearing a bit high at the moment. I bought it for a bit of fun and to teach my nephew how to ride he's only 11 and 1.35 inches too short but we'll get him there. I might even ride it in clubmans class and I'll be busy setting up a trials track round my property.
Theres a few trick things to it - like a backwards facing gearshift (less chance of damage in a spill) the airbox is up under the headstock and it has 2 petrol tanks with one under the seat. It also has all the gear to be fully street legal.

It appears the TLR250R is a Japanese domestic trail bike,the guys at Trials Central don't think they are a real TLR.Same with the TLR200 Reflex that the Yanks got,they are different from a real trials TLR and only suitable for slow trail work.

But don't let that put you off,it's for a young fella to learn on,and he'll learn a hell of a lot more on this bike than a CR125.If you want to have a go at trials with it ditch the knobs and get some real trials tyres,and get that gearing down as far as possible.I have gone down 2 teeth on the gearbox and up 4 on the wheel on my TLR200,and it's still too tall.You need to be able to loft the front wheel in 2nd.With my gearing I can only use 2nd on a long climb,everywhere else I scream the shit out of it in 1st.But that means it's reving too high to loft the wheel off the bottom end.....but we don't do many logs or big rocks in twinshock and I get by with the odd 5.They stall too,grrrrrr.

And look after that front guard,they are impossible to get now,a lot of guys take the original one off and ride with a universal guard.I bought a new one for mine and destroyed it in 4 seasons,I'm kicking myself now.

In the box of bits that came with the bike is a big rear sprocket - solid steel have to find someone to chop some steel out of it. That will sort the gearing out. Ive got a WR/YZ450 front guard somewhere but the rear guard is allready broken so it will have to be plastic welded. Maybe that Preston Petty yellow rear guard can be adapted.

yep with a Don Vesco long range fuel tank on it & you'll be set:sunny:
