Have to nominate my awards for the Christmas issue of KR.
This year my extremely lucky arse has had enough time to form an opinion on:
XB12X
MVAgusta F41000
ZX14
FJR 1300
Thruxton
Road King Custom
Daytona 675
Scrambler
Softail Custom
Multistrada
M109R
KTM SM950
Vespa GT250ie
SX640
CB250
CB 900
I'm still 'wrestling' with it. I found something to like in all of them.
I'm not going to reveal what I choose until the mag comes out, but welcome any speculation that might see something I've missed.
Your nomination for Bike Of The Year?
Doesn't have to be from my list either.

My money (if I had any) would go on the Daytona 675
At least until the Ducati Hypermotard is real

The "Huffy 14-speed" was popular at different stages of this year...
With several KB members requiring "alternative" 2-wheeled transport.

The Scrambler.
Even Dave could ride it off road....

Out of last year's crop it would have to be the M109R.

My vote for Scrambler. Only Triumph has the balls to make something so far off mainstream. And they keep on doing it!

Shit BD. What a no-win situation. Such a wide range of rides there with a bit of something for everyone. I s'pose that it's a little late to get a go on a few of them myself? Wouldn't want to go off half-cocked and give an opinion that doesn't have some kind of basis in experience would I?:innocent: This interweb thingy would collapse if people did that.

Yes indeed! - I do get to split them up into cruiser, sports bike etc if I want to. or I can babble on, Babylon - all the 'staffers' get a half a page or so.

Wouldn't be KB without that! After all, we read the bike mags so we're all ably qualified to form a valid opinion! :sunny: Even if we don't read the bike mags we've read what others here have said.:scooter:
So my fully informed and suitably qualified opinion is that the 675 is first and the Scrambler second, so there!
Ps. I'd really like to ride any of the contenders, I really would!:third:

The Vespa is my pick of the bunch, either that or the MV.

can't agree on the m109r - i thought the build quality was pretty average, although i did like the cartoon-like look from the rear 1/4. imho the rocket is the better big bore cruiser

The XB12X rules itself out for me simply because, at 5 foot 10 I can't reach the ground, even on the lowered seat version. Perhaps there's room to consider the XB12SS?
The M109 looks a bit plastic compared to the Harley Street Rod, but as I've only ridden the Harley I couldn't comment on the Suzuki.
The other Harley's are just not my thing.
No-ones offered me a ride on the ZX14 yet but I'd love to have a go.
It just leaves for me the MV vs the Daytona.
I can't aspire to own the MV (kids keeep me broke) but the Daytona, well that's a possibility.
I vote for the 675

New bikes huh? That's a bit of a stretch for me.
The Scrambler of course - pity other manufacturers haven't got such a rich past to delve into as Triumph.
The Aprillia V twin,450,550...motard,enduro,whatever - as beyond my skills as a sportsbike....but I like dream.
Moto Guzzi Griso - I can walk into any motorcycle shop and ignore every bike there, they just don't interest me.But shit, the Griso just hits every single button for me,I don't think I've been so totaly taken by a bike in my life.....I'm too scared to go into Mt Eden Motorcycles incase I see it again.Sometimes you see women like that, the most beautiful thing you've ever seen....and you know you haven't got a hope in hell of her even looking you way. This bike does that to me....

The 675 is a hard bike to beat... a bike from triumph that sticks it to the jappas? that's legendary in itself.
The K6 750, as always the GSXR750 is up there with the best of them, and they just keep getting better.
And what about the Aprilia SXV550? everyone should try this bike (try to ignore the numb arse after 100m)... as soon as you swing you leg over it, and thumb the starter it's like you're 16 again, this bike would bring the boy out of helen clark... it's just too much fun to be legal!
