As above....after just about getting takin out (again) by some brainless bitch..sorry person... talking on her bloody cell phone when she was supposed to be giving way to me ive had enough:angry: have they made it an offence to talk on them whilst driving yet...i remember some talk about it but not sure if anything happened...cant people wait until they get home or at least pull over to use the damn things...was so tempted to follow this woman, wait until she stopped and smash her bloody phone..but then i suppose i would end up in court:angry: i for one would support the cops ticketing people for doing it..nobody needs to get hurt/die for the sake of a phone call...... rant over....

Glad you "dodged" the cager...

I for one would be happy to support a law that requires a hands-free shoephone usage, as a minimum requirement whilst driving.

Well done mate.

I bought me an anti cell phone device a while bacl... 129dB air horns (two tone don't you know...)

Cell phone users that do dumb stuff seem to really hate them for some reason. Go figure...

I know the feeling.... the government is either not interested or not competent enough to create legislation.

I heard on National Radio the other day some MP saying that it was impractical to ban phones because then we'd have to ban all other things that could distract drivers like radios and eating a pie. :brick:

PS - good dodge, happened to me last night almost got T-boned....

Yeah - and drinking... poor bastards having to drive sober. How many celly phone accidents are there compared to drunk drivers? I can't recall but the stats surprised me when I saw it...

considering the UK has just made cell phone useage in the car unlawful recently, I'm not holding my breath for the rest of the world, never mind NZ, to follow suit any time soon........

Funny how everything but revenue related measures are too difficult for our 'road safety' experts.

Yeah it pisses me off hard out. I have been known to grab peoples cellphones off them and toss them in the back seat(thats when im a passenger). It's just not on.

It was made illegal in Queensland when I was there a couple of years ago, but in typical Brisbane over-the-top-authoritarian police style they went a bit overboard and people got three-figure fines and demerit points for scratching their ears or adjusting their hats (cops said that they were using phones when they weren't, and of course Mr. Copper is always right).

Although I somewhat sympathise with the claim that there are so many distractions in a car other than just phones (adjust radio, talking to passsengers etc), use of phones in cars seems to be so much more widespread and people seem to switch off so much more when using them that it is an issue. Perhaps they could make cellphone use, rather than a specific law, fall under some general `not taking due care' law, so they can fine people who insist on reading magazines in traffic or applying makeup (things I've actually seen happen around Auckland more than once).

Also there is the fact that while talking on your phone you only have one hand to drive with -- but what are people's thoughts on handsfree devices (from memory these were still legal in Brisbane)? Surely that's no worse than just having a conversation with a passenger?

brother ,"WHY not pull right up and tap on their car window, "Why cause they fucking look then, and yup i've had a few go into shock,(haha) and a few who respond by thinking they've seen god,(hehe) ,and a few who have raced off like "Murphy", but if you don't at least upset them, who know's next time they may really hit a less so awake rider
