Righto, I have taken 6 weeks off over Xmas and New Years but I dont actually have anything to do with my time. Ive been thinking about taking off on my bike on the 23rd/24th December somewhere quiet where I can park the bike up for a day or two and drink lots of beer then keep on going to another destination for a night or two and maybe ending up somewhere random for New Years or maybe just heading back to Wellington. Basically I thought I would see if there was anyone else who had nothing to do for Xmas that might be keen on joining me? Im not yet sure which direction im gonna head but it'll most likely be the South Island as Im most likely heading up to Northland in January. Im thinking cheap accomodation so that there is more money for petrol and booze, so maybe a camping ground or back packers. I want to stay away from crowds of people and just relax but I dont want to have to be anywhere at any time just want to be able to cruise wherever, whenever. So I thought Id see if anyone else was keen? Also all ideas of where to go/stay/places to see etc greatly welcomed!

You can always ride with me up to Taupo, I'd appreciate the company.

We'll be staying there for 2 weeks, taking the boat up (mabye jet skis too) so lots of fun on the lake :D

I also plan to do some riding around and would be keen to meet up with other kbers

Ah, thats sweet but having grown up in Rotovegas I spent alot of time in Taupo. I really wanna go and see places that I havent been to before! Anyway I'd probably hold you up if you had your 600 by then!

Now thats an awesome idea.... Then I could just go down South afterwards. Im assuming that the accomadation in Wanganui will probably already be booked out! Cheers for that, I havent been to Wanganui since I was a wee-un.

Go South Str8 if you haven't done it much before the rides are fantastic. Just saw above - yeah sure go South after Wanganui as that is compulsory viewing if you are in the same Island at the time.

If you want beaches try Nelson, Kaiteriteri and go over Takaka Hill to Totaranui I reckon. Then go down to Murchison and to the West Coast - the Upper and Lower Buller gorge roads are just great on the bike carving through the curves - some of my favourite roads.

Not sure about accommodation because you are wanting high season.

p.s. nice to see you on Saturday night at the Bristol.

Hey cheers! I went hitch-hiking down the other side of the South Island to Ch/ch and back up the middle a few years back so that would be perfect! Ive heard the Takaka Hill rocks and I would love to see for myself!
