The weather forecast is looking good for a midday hoon up the Taka's tomorrow.

Im thinking of leaving home about 12.00 (once the roads have dried a bit) - can meet me at home or see you at top of Taka hill for a coffee and talk some BS ?

Any takers ?

I'll keep it in mind, I have a poxy GPZ to fix, but if that gets done I'll convince him to come & drag the bus out, or if I'm feeling naughty I'll get the 750 lashed together. Shit, the tank is still at paint. Best get it alll done or it won't happen.

It seems you, me and Celticno6have a fair bit in common then Jim.

Excepting, of course, the fact that you're both ugly bastards and I'm dead sexy.

Sigh - Undoubtedly true. For some reason androgynous stick-figures seem to have become regarded as sexy, rather than more "manly" figure types.

Mate, after using PC based machines for years Apple is a real relief. I rate them far better than PC's. Less hassle and software always works first time. No lockups either. Mind you, I use my computers for imagery including DV and stills and Apple handle imagery well.

In all seriousness, I'm at the bottom of the 'takas nearly and at 10.00 its still white as hell out here.

Be VERY careful on those corners - the ones on the south side will be icy all day...

Well, it was certainly cold but only one corner was a bit damp, so all in all a good ride.
Jimbo, Cycosis and me headed up about 1.00pm.

Saw Hamish up there. Mark Dunn and Dion were on their way up as we were coming back down. Kerry MacDonald was coming through Kaitoke as well. Good to see the cold hasn't put off the REAL bikers haha

Paekak hill on the other hand was very greasy most of the way.

Might do the Taka's again tomorrow at about the same time if the weather holds.

Yeah that was good run today man, cheers for that. Can't make it tomorrow as I have house chores to get on with. Sad I know but it's gotta be done. Unless I mow the lawn at six in the morning and piss off the neighbours then I could go for a burlah.

Jim, Deano & Cyco what a bugger we missed you for a chat at the top. Still we all managed a quick wave at each other between bends without crashing. Whats the story going home at 1pm? We hoped you would come back on up. Shame we timed it wrong.
Roads were dry enough for a fast run and lots of KBers at the top. Good to see us hardened ones can take a chilly day out.
Well I'm off tomorrow for 2 weeks of warmth on the Goldcoast but no room for the bike in carry on luggage.
See ya next time Guys.

Even my poor old Guzzi made it but I'm not a very social person.... Unless I've been drinkin', then I'm anti social...

Came home and chopped down half a tree (the top half) and took the dog for a walk.

Christ I'm old...

You saw Lynda too, she was on the last straight before the top when you guys were coming down (but you didn't recognise me). It was cold, I hadn't seen this post but we did manage to catch up with you Sunday at the summit anyway, when it was much warmer.

Yeah I was late getting up there too but made it in the end. Still think it is a crazy bit of road though. I was rolling down the hill just taking it easy as there was a fair bit of traffic & some chap decides he wants to clear off & fair enough, but 2 kids, one on an RG150 & another on what I think was a GSX550 decide to follow & I was thinking Geez they look like they are riding over their heads & PS there’s no trophies for smacking into cars.

Sure enough near the bottom the GSX is pulled over with a bunch of cars stopped. The guy was standing so I didn’t bother stopping, I got the feeling I didn’t want to know.

Saw those two the previous weekend, slithering around in the wet rather stupidly.Bit of a bugger if one of them did arse off. Can't say I'm surprised though.

We stopped and made sure all was well - we'd been talking with them at the top of the hill. The guy on the 550 went virtually straight into a 4x4, on that 35kph corner by the lakes lookout. He said he had the sun in his eyes, and misjudged the corner. Note: for once it appears the 4x4 was completely on his side of the road, it appears it's the bike at fault, not the 4x4. The bike ripped a big chunk out of the front driver's tyre on the 4x4, and the bike was unrideable - god knows how but the rider was okay.

Damn that corner. I wiped out a perfectly good V8 Valiant Regal on that corner back in '89 racing against an SLR5000 over the 'takas.
