Any recommendations for a bike mechanic to change the gear ratios on a Suzuki Bandit 250, who wont charge an arm and a leg :) And yeah in Auckland.

How do I increase the idling rpm of the bike? Currently it idles too low, even after a few mins of riding. Is this something I can do by myself easily or does it require opening up the carbs or something?

hey bud, on your second question, a quick way to up the idle is the idle adjustment knob thingy whatsit on the left hand side of your bike. That just pushes the throttle open a touch. on my bandit it is a black round knob about the size of a ten cent piece (hang in a fifty now right?) just below the frame and beside the carbs

But the idle screws on the carbs are probably a better way to achieve this- but buggered if i know how.

Im sure someone else will be able to give ya a better answer but the knob doohickey will help ya if trying to ride around at the mo.

Thanks for that. Sounds like it will serve my purpose. I will search for that knob when I get back home.

the later model bandits (frame gj77a) the idle knob is in the middle under the carbs, reach in between the motor and the carbs and you will see it in the middle, prob only needs 1 turn.
i know what you mean about the ratios on the bandit, motor sounds like its all talk and no go, screaming its lungs out going nowere! try a change in sprocket size by a tooth or 2.
