Just sold my FZR250 a month ago, but now I have the problem of chosing my next 250cc Mbike (still on my learners).

I've been loking at the Kawasaki ZXR250 or ZZR250 as im quite tall and they seem biger than most other 250s. Does anyone know the differences between the two?

Or the Honda CBR, my friend had one of these and it just lasted for agers with no problems, but im not sure how they match up to other 250s proformance wise.

And then theres the 2 strokes ive always loved them but heard they can be high maintainance, can someone tell me common faults and parts that need to be replaced regularly, I heard the RGV can be unrealible but really don't know... help!

Really appericate any info on these bikes and peoples personal preferance, ive got a round 4000+ to spend on a bike.

So why did you sell the fizzer?

The CBR250RR is an awesome bike, great handling and power for a 250. The 2 strokes are even better for handling and power but can have a problem with reliability and require more maintenance. I have had a couple of CBR250's and one RGV250. The RGV was the best bike I have ever owned and I never had a problem with it and I wish I never sold, but I needed the cash at the time, anyway, back to the point.
250cc bikes are expensive, another option is getting a 400cc machine (similar relative power and speed of a 250 two stroke). This of course is against your licensed limits, but a CBR400 and CBR250 look very similar as do a ZXR250 or ZXR400. Still, if you get stopped, you will be fined, but you still might save money, you can get a nice 400cc for around $3000, not many 250's for that price. It all depends how long you are going to have on your learners or restricted licence and how good or bad a rider you are. If you are new to riding and still learning, go for a VTR250 or CBR250r.

Since you've already had some 250 4 stroke experience, a RGV/NSR250 might not be such a stupid idea. You won't be bored of the power for a while longer so you won't be wishing to upgrade till a bit later on

They're cheap! And if the brakes are made of wood, then they're not likely to rust, are they? :)

Well I knew only very little before I got my 2 stroke, and maintenence hasn't been a big issue. I replaced the piston and ring myself and had fun doing it, it was pretty easy and I didn't even have a manual. The 250s are twin cylinders which is a bit more awkward as far as I know

thats a sexy bike. go the cbr rr 250's. no 250 sexier and they are so reliable and will do many km's of hassle free biking. there fast too on par if not faster than a zxr (less weight)

if i could force you to buy a cbr rr i would lol. good luck on your choice. if you buy a cbr let me know so i can give you some green ahaha :Punk:

I have a ZXR and it is the biggest of the 250 4 strokes, was the only one that felt comfy for me (just over 6"). I've had it for about 4 years and have had no problems with engine at all. Had it up to 190km and only at 16.5k revs, redlines at 19k. Is great to through around but suspension is kinda hard but you get used to it.

Ive owned a zxr250 for about 3 and 1/2 years and its never put a foot wrong. Same about the suspension for me but i would reccomend getting in touch with someone to help you set it up as it is fully adjustable. They are a really nice fit for me at 6' 1" where as i find the cbr tank indents for my knees were too small. Sounds like you would soon get bored on the zzr as they are alot slower and they lean angle before the foot pegs start putting down road markings is alot less too.

Thanks for all the help thing im going to stick with the four stroke four cylinders... probably other the cbrr or the zxr as im over 6 foot and found my fzr tank too small as well and i like the sound of more power!!!!.. ill just have to save up a little more, they seem to be alot more expensive than other 250s.

I am similar height and it depends on the positioning of your feet. ON the balls of your feet like you should ride a sprotbike the CBR is just fine, ride it flatfooted like a cruiser and you will have problems
