The Republicans have lost Congress, yee-bloody-haaarrrrr.
George Dubya, your days are numbered. And they'll be spent as a lame duck.
That'll be a fate worse than Saddam's.

It wont make any bloody difference. There is only one party in the USA, with two right wings. The "other side" will quite happily rubber stamp their war presidents war requests.

Not a snowball in hell's chance. Too much history, too divisive, people hate her. If the Democrats are brave she may get a Vice-Presidential nomination. Barack Obama stands a better chance of selection than Mrs Clinton.

Can someone please explain what has happened and how it effects the present government in America. Much appreciated.

Wouldn't madder anyway if she won or not. She wouldn't finish her term. Would be good to see a woman atleast run for once though.

The President of the USA, Mr George W Bush, is a Republican. Until this morning he enjoyed majority support from Republican-party dominated Congress and Senate. No longer is this the case. Consequently his ability to successfully prosecute his agenda over the remaining period of his presidency will be impaired. It is unlikely he will be impeached, although some Democrats are still smouldering over the Republican party's attempts to oust President Clinton.

lol yea, they won't impeach him. Then they would be left with Cheney and he WOULD have a coronary.

I think you'll find that she would be closer to GWB in political temperament than you might imagine, and her vacillation over the Iraq War II question (do I support it? Yess, err No, errr maybe) has cost her a lot of support. I wish Al Gore would run, but he'll probably have to wait until the next one now.
Obama as president? Texas would secede.

So we have had a guy who has been so dumb that we can see his mistakes. What happens when a smart cunning politician gets into power. The evil becomes far less visible. I don't think we will be any safer. Just more unaware.

Not for long. Election of those uber-liberal buffoons to the government pretty much guarantees the next government will be 100% Republican. Kommies are not kool.

You'll see a lot of political posturing by the Democrats, but not much else. Bush is walking a tight rope with his party winning the next Presidential election in his mind. If there is one thing about American politics is that when it comes down to the war in Iraq both sides are in for the long haul.
Hilary Clinton? She wont allow her nomination to go forward as a Presidential or Vice Presidential canidate for much of the reasons that Hitcher states. She's still a newbie. But make no mistake when this woman decides to make her mark all of America will sit up and take notice.
She is the closest thing to JFK. She's at her best when electioneering.

The Democrats have been as much a bunch of useless lame duck losers as the Repubs have been. 6 years of Bush and they havent got a viable opposition? Don't see it changing that much, either. And as for presidential candidates......if you havent got a $100 mill sitting around, forget even standing, so that narrows the field down a bit....
Rumsfeld is a diversionary sacrificial lamb to the masses, while Cheney and co consider their next options. :dodge:
What the US needs is another totally new party with ideals and a will to get things done.....but.......:zzzz:
