I'm cursed....

I try hard to get to the Classic Bike Club nights but life conspires against me! Now I know a lot of people say that but seriously.......

Take tonight.... The plan was to get away early (ish) from work but - usually stuff and then the Boss wandered past and we had to explain todays little tanty and since he seemed to agree with me it all took a little longer....

Off to the car thinking - crap - I'm running late and BUGGER...... Some dimwit left the bloody park lights on this morning and the battery is not just flat but utterly pancaked....

No sweat - I'll just get me jumper leads and that lady there will help out and... No Jumper leads - the kids 'borrowed' them (I put them back in the garage eh) aaarrrgghhh

OK - No worries - my mate at work has a set, I'll call him.... feck - cellie does not work 'cos the company upgraded me to a new one today and I seem to be stuck between the 2... sigh....

OK OK - I'll walk back to work..... Glen sees me right and away we go... Jesus. Look at the bloody time....

Rush in through the door - Vicki (bless her heart) has a raost chicken dinner on the bench - yippee.... I will be late but I'll make it...

Tog up - fire up.... um... fire up?? Crap - need gas, onto reserve and off to fill up (knew I needed too so no drama)

Guy in front of me at the checkout seems to be an escaped mental patient and is having a debate about the evils of motor spirit to the bored clerk and more importantly HOLDING ME UP....

Guy 2 is fascinated with the bike and wants to tell me his life story.... aaarrgghh...

FINALLY we are on the road. 100mtrs and it starts to spit..... 500mtrs and its officially pissing down.... 5km and it's not just raining - it actually hurts to ride and I have the liner in... SCREW it I'm bloody going you bitch Mother Nature.....

Traffic slows.....

Traffic STOPS....

This is Centenial Highway road works, after 7 they have traffic lights... I can't get to the front of the queue up the middle cos the big rigs coming the other way are actually throwing up a bow wave... I can't get up the inside 'cos thats the bit they are digging UP.. I'm stuck...

Bike gear seems designed to keep you dry when moving but it seems to suck when standing still. I'm actually getting wet in gear that has kept me dry in virtually every climate NZ has ever thrown at me... wtf???

OK - green light - this crazy rain cannot possibly last....

WHAT????? RED LIGHT YOU MOTHER F...... ARGH!

OK - another couple of minutes wont hurt???

Now I officially wet down below, I'm cold and I can't see a damn thing as my visor is wet inside and out, my glasses are wet and everything is fogged up and I'm only 5km from home..... Never mind, I'm made of sterner stuff....

Then the truck coming at me hit the puddle.... Drenched? I was actually spluttering...

I know when I'm licked folks....

I got home, I stripped the stuff off, removed the liners, hung everything up, put it all away etc - then it stopped raining......

Shit I HATE spring in Kapiti....

The weather here wasn't the best today either, but just on dusk tonight the clouds started to lift, and here is the scene from our front door.

I had been led believe that Global Warming was occuring, but maybe next year. :sunny:

Nice read Paul... I feel for you. If it's any consolation, at the time you were enduring the stair rods I was having an early night watching telly in bed.

Bro, that is a sad tale alright. Tell you what, you can have tomorrow off work. Nah don't get all soppy and thank me. It's nothing.

Ahh, I see your problem - traffic lights!! and rain!! and people!! and a warm climate.
Well at least down here we don't have traffic light. too many people or a warm climate , we got a little bit of rain but that's what keeps the other problems at bay.

No mate - these are traffic lights to allow construction crews to work on the very narrow bit of shw 1. Of course with the rain, they all ran into their little huts so no work was actually being done. Just the daft lights blinking away in the storm. Bastards...

And yes Jim2 - very dirty.... Only last weekend have I managed to ride it without rain someplace - and then it got 5kms of gravel.... sigh..........
