Hey All,

Finally got online!!!

F*ck talk about scary!!!

The prime minister, Chavez... was at the opening ceremony of the world cup... the security was crazy!... military... police... bomb dogs etc etc...

The russian team got mugged at gunpoint on the 2nd day here, we are not allowed out of the hotel or bowling centre unless escorted by police.

Its really really hot... (thats cool tho)

Am missing home lots and lots...

The buses that we go on are escorted by police on bikes, (6 at a time!)
looks as tho they are all brand new bikes too, 750cc Firestrom?? (spelt that way!)

Got heaps of pics of the bikes etc... but cant upload till I get home.
Also have some wicked pics of the shack towns in the hills etc.

Bowling wise... I did good. Happy with performances.

The people on bikes here dont wear helmets.... they lane split like nothing ive ever seen before... 5 people on one bike?!?!?!.... saw one bike get nailed in Buenos Aires at the beginning of the week. Looking forward to going back there on monday for a few days, safer than here!!!

Missing my bike like crazy!! bet shes all lonely in the garage *Sniff*!

only online for bout another 45mins then off to bed, being that it is half ten here now and have had a looonnnng day. exhausted!!

Hope the weathers been good n all keeping safe :scooter:

Is it worth seeing because I'm travelling through but plan on passing on it as I hear it's well, dirty dangerous and crazy.

hey....

yeah in Caracas....

yep... it is very dodgy... esp for foreigners....
You cant go shopping etc... or take taxi's... cuz its likely that you will get mugged. I would personally suggest Buenos Aires as its safer and it is nice there :D

I would not come here for a holiday pretty much, I wouldnt come back if there was not a good reason to either

Totally agree with you there Quasi

Everytime we go out in public (even tho escorted by police) its like :shit: !!

I was on TV here!!! this morning and last night... coverage of the world cup has been shown a lot, there are shitloads of tv cameras at the bowling centre, down the lanes etc... interviews... the media here is crazy too!
I was being filmed just as much as the chick from Venezuela was. (I think they liked my piercings? or my style? lol)

Still looking forward to getting outta this place tho!! The sooner we get to Argentina the better! Bring on the shopping and sightseeing.
going to see Evita's grave etc....

Nah, there was a bit of breeze up in Aucks and the locals had the froth blown off their latte's...

I would've asked if you were going to get a brazilian while you were there... but that's below the border...

cheers for the thoughts guys.
Lilsel - I reckon San Telmo looks interesting in BsAs.
I was there but only for an evening and would've liked to mooch around a bit. Also saw a footy game of Boca Juniors. Highly recommend BA (as you know how good it is not much need to preach to converted). The Recoleta cemetary is a bit strange - I couldn't get over the crypts with doors open and you could walk into there if you felt like it. Outside the walls there's all the upmarket bars. It really is a fashion statement.
cuidate!

there was winds of up to 150km/h, and my friend saw two accidents when she was driving to the course.

Yep , BA is interesting all right, The City never sleeps !
Don't use Banco Frances ATM's on Sarmiento unless you want counterfit 100 Pesos notes (Double check your change from cafes and resturants as well for the same reason).
Pizzolla Tango show and dinner is work a look.

My wife & I did an amazing motorcycle tour of Agrentina earlier this year. http://www.buenosaires-caracas.com.ar/arg-ing.htm . If you have time I guarantee it will be a trip of a life time. We want to go back for more.

I saw a guy drop a huge BMW bike last night here in Caracas... He was kinda stuck under it. He wasnt moving when he dropped it... just tipped sideways n that was it... had no helmet or gear on either.... when he got up tho... it was pretty obvious that he was drunk. :shit: crazy...

let us know how you find BA. I just couldn't get over it so have scheduled into my next trip.
Me and another friend with a screw loose are going to buy bikes in LA and ride em down. I plan to get down as far as about Bariloche. God and funds willing.

Yeah it was a little frustrating...

But... YAY!!!! In Argentina now :D

Was a shit flight from Venezuela tho, rough as again, and the guy that was sitting next to me had wings and snored... arrived here at 4.15am (B.A time).
Had a nap for a couple of hours cuz looked like a zombie.
Did a bit of shopping this morning, just checking up on e-mails etc now then going to go do a walking tour of BA. It is really hot today. Am soooo stoked to be back here and be outta that shit hole.

Drove thru the slums to get to the airport... omg... I have never seen such poverty in my life... its sad!! some kids tried to open the car door, I almost shat myself lol. we went that way because it was quicker than the motorway that was nose to tail. Venezuela has the WORST traffic!! Worse than Auckland.. worse than Wellington... took hours to go 10miles WITH police escorts stopping traffic at the lights to get us thru.

Only one more 14 hour flight to go *dance*... then... after a snooze... ill be out on two wheels again :D yay!

From LA?¿?¿?
Whoa!! That´s quite a distance... make sure you have protection :2guns:
stay away from the borders to columbia etc lol

Sounds like a shit load of fun tho! :D

I dont think im game enough to get on a bike or drive in these countries aye, they drive so crazy... love their horns... dont use indicators... (I guess on the open rd tho it´d be sweet!!)

Our driver to the airport in Venezuela was doing 160kph along the motorway in a ford explorer!! to make up time cuz they shut the motorway for the president to get thru and we got stuck for close to an hour on the onramp. heaps of security around the convoy (they closed the wrong side of the rd for them to go down)...They were foot down n nailing it too.
