from press relese.........
Ducati North America announces the international launch and North American pricing for the new 1098 Superbike.
This incredible new machine produces 160hp and 90.4lbs/ft of torque, which results in making the 1098 the most powerful twin-cylinder motorcycle in the world, with the highest torque-to-weight ratio of any sport bike. In addition, the 1098 is also the lightest open class Superbike available, weighing 381 pounds.
The priority in every step of the 1098 development has been performance first.
Every system, every detail and every component has been studied and pared down to its essence in order to increase performance to the maximum. If it didn’t make the 1098 lighter, faster or deliver quicker lap times, it wasn’t considered.

My money is on Japanese robots over drunk Italians any day.
So if your money was no object, you'd rather drive a Toyota Corolla than a Ferarri 430. Yeah right. I think your argument should be "Japanese robot bikes are within my means"
Let's be honest here children.

i'll be honest.
I should be getting the fuckin train to work really.
But it's not just the robots vs drunks argument, its that most suzuki riders abuse the shit out of their bikes whilst any cunt that buys one of these will spend more time polishing it than riding it.
I hope the clearcoat is up to the job.

The single sided swinger returns!!!
Ducati admitted in the 90's it was a styling exercise more than anything else.
So much for designed for the racetrack...
Fuck it, who cares, it looks cool though.
This'll do wonders for the resale values of 999s and 749s, as in they'll drop even faster, much to my enjoyment. I see a 749/999 in my future again. :Punk: :Punk: :) :)

I knew you guys are clever enough to
anyhow the base vesion will trade for approx. 12000euros and a couple of mates have ordered one already:gob:
It seams to be a very competetive bike and if it comes as announced it will rule the roads :Punk: at least over here.
planned to by a 750 gixxer for the track, as my 748R is too expensive if I crash it but the new ducati might be an option:love:
so better go and try to cut the weight of my oldish errrr down, so I can keep up with all those cunts buying the 1098.
btw I will be in Milan next week and can post some pic's later on.
cheers

Looks nice but I agree with SN4PD re the looks Daytona,999 etc. In fact it looks a lot like your japanese sport bike. At least the 916 and 999 looked different to your run of the mill sports bike.

It should read, 'If money was no object, you'd rather drive an NSX than a Ferrari 430. Yeah right.'
And the answer would be, yes, I'd rather have an NSX than a Ferrari 430.
As far as the bikes go, I'd rather have two GSXR1000s than that Ducati. You should try talking to someone who's actually into bikes and not a poseur, they might open your eyes a little.

Well it did also make it very easy to remove the rear wheel for wheel swaps. That is prob the race bred side of this swing arm argument if they are going to race this thing.

Although, the 1098 came out sooner after the 999 than I would've thought... maybe that's them admitting it looked like a run over puppy.
limbimtimwim, that was my first thought too... nothing there that wasn't needed indeed! But hey, it's a good looking swinger (not sold on the wheels though, only MV have fitted uglier wheels than that, which given some of the stunning wheels MV have used is a bit perplexing), and they're giving the public what they want... given that the public are the ones paying their wages, can't fault them on that.

Well it did also make it very easy to remove the rear wheel for wheel swaps. That is prob the race bred side of this swing arm argument if they are going to race this thing.Things have moved on, there is some tricky stuff out there now making rear wheel swaps very very fast. The Honda people were always fussing with the RC45s single sided. I remember reading something Aaron Slight said. He said something along the lines of "Honda would change with the way the single sided moved vertically and mess up the way it moved horizontally. So they were chasing their tails with the thing". Not good. I'm sure things have come along, and even those farmers at Ducati will have come up with fixes for the problems. But the single sides are heavy as well.I think single sides do look good though. I was just 10 minutes ago admiring my RVFs rear wheel...
ell if you do get a 749/999 I'm going for a ride on it  PLLLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE !!!!!Be a couple of years away yet. Gotta wait for the price on on two seater 999S to come down. And my pay to go up a bit :).
Your all gonna knock me for this, but I like the look of the 749/999 and not the new one.:dodge:I'm with you, the 749/999 looks futuristic, when one is parked up and it looks like it's not actually real. This new thing looks damn horny, but.... I might mistake it at a glace to the front for a Triumph 675 (A cool looking bike no doubt). The 749/999: The stacked headlights, the crazy slat hanging of the front of the fairing, it's an event to perv at, it's cool.
