Hooray! I threw caution to the wind (literally to the wind!) and took the RZ to work today, deciding to conquer my fear of wind and rain.

On my way down Manuroa Rd, another biker coming the other way was decent enough to give me a wave - g'day to who ever you were!

Riding home in the craphouse rain, I discovered my jacket is waterproof - bonus! Got another wave coming down the GSR in Takanini, warm fuzzies!

Got to my brothers car yard in Takanini, saw some specks on the fairing, had a squizz, and discovered that some ... thingy had fallen off - emergency dash up to my now good friends at the local Yamaha shop. Diagnosis? Power valve cover has somehow miraculously fallen off.

Quoted approx $120 to have another one fabricated, turns out it's about the only bloody thing for my beast that Yamaha no longer make. BASTARDS!

So, on the hunt for a cover.

Still, got a couple of nods and waves from the 2 wheeled community, conquered the bastard Auckland weather, and had a bloody good ride to and from work, and THAT'S all that matters.

Hope you all had a kick-ass day!

well done mate............

good luck in finding that part........... that you lost.

Did you think to backtrack on all the roads that you travelled today and see if you could find it out there on the road.... as it maybe still in good condition to use. It may still be lying there on the road or in the gutter.

Need to look before the cleanup boys hit the roads at night.

Ha ha:laugh: It's been the livespan of a large sea mammal since I've seen cleanup boys tidyng up the roads around here.
You should definitely go for a bit of a scan asap. I happened to find a toeslider that had wandered, on the side of the motorway. :yeah:

It's the puppy on the right as you sit on the bike - will try and get a pic... I owe a couple of bods some pics of Daisy anywhoo, so this is a touch of incentive. :D

I went to and from work on the Great South Road... more likely to get snotted at low speed looking for the cover than if I was caning... I mean road tuning the bike within it's operational parameters...

Hey congrats! Wonder if I saw you riding around - I had to head down to the ol' bike man repair shop to see to my brake light (important bit of kit that!). I wandered over the goat track this arvo and down to Whitford before turning back to Takanini.

Sounds like you had fun and got in some wild windy practice! All good! :niceone: Ahhh, the joys of losing bits off your ride :weep: NOT! I think I left one of my little rear hugger screws down in Rotovegas from the last ride!

Anyhows, good to see you riding out there and enjoying your two wheels of freedom! :scooter:

Well done Donor! You must be quite old as I thought it was only old lawn bowlers who were mad enough to go out and play in the wind and rain :innocent:
