This morning in was very windy, so watched the All blacks and France.

My practice this week 'Dealing With Hazards and Multiple Hazards' see Road Code for Motorcycles page 114 and 115. I put myself out there in the local Lower Hutt central shopping district and constantly exercised my hazard negotiation skills. Did it for several days at different times of the day.

I still occasionally forget to cancel out my indicator - ah humm there in lays another story the indicator thumb switch broke Friday evening. Don't you just love it when you remembered the switch was gone.:dodge:

The bike is back to the shop tomorrow morning.

Heads Up and Enjoy:scooter:

Well after getting my bike back from Hels I rode out to Johnsonville and took the Makara road back, playing on the hill at the Karori end for a bit. After decideing I still wasn't satisfied I rode out to the Hutt and through Whitemans valley, again playing on the hill for a bit (did I mention I love the really twisty stuff).

I just practiced relaxing and enjoying myself, which I did, very much :D

Good one, similar to Whitemans Valley but a lot longer is the Moonshine Road off SH2 [River Rd] left then up and over back down into Judgeford. I have only done the run from the Judgeford end twice.

Also a good coffee run out to Staglands, the last 10km are winding.

Heads Up and Enjoy

rode to Big Boys Toys, parked right out front (free, and watching all the cagers walk for miles was funny). Then I practised perving at booth babes... and had one catch me admiring her friends arse... and it was a nice one too

Oh riding skills... ummm... yeah, I think I did something... oh yeah, I got some tips for wheelies (and a shitload else) from watching Chris Pfeiffer... can't do them, but ya never know

oh... safe skills for the road? ummm sure I did something, perhaps didn't overtake in a dangerous place or something :innocent:

Took Andrea out and showed her how to get to Ardmore Quarry road and rode Twilight Road twice (dodging dead possums).

Practiced countersteering on sweepers most of the rest of the day.

BuckBuckNo1 - how long have you been riding dude? I had consiered you a contemporary of mine coz I thought you got your learners before me - I'm just over 6 months riding now (hence the restricted licence at last!) One Defensive Driving test and 3 months an I should be able to get me a proper bike!

Today I went to Otahuhu with Lee RustyNuts and practised going around little orange cones. I also practised starting, stopping, going around corners, stalling and starting again. Repeatedly. Then I learned I was Mr Nuts' most frustrating student ever.

Then I made him stay there until I wore him down enough to give me my basic handling certificate.

That man deserves a medal.

I went up SH2 and took the haywards road through to paremata back around to home. Mainly trying to go faster/smoother around corners without anything horrible happening.

I also found out how fast the hyosung will go in a straight line :shifty:

The plan for next weekend is to do the big loop (cutting over around palmy/pahiatua) if the weather is good, should be fun.

CB got cabin-fever and decided 'we' needed to go for a ride and PM'd jantar suggesting we meet up at Shingle Creek pub.

Dragged out Tequila Sunrise and headed up the Clutha valley road, I was sure tha bike was pissed, it was all over the road and at funny angles - but it was just the 70kph+ side and head winds.

Got to Clydevale and one look at the torrential rain up by the Blueys convinced me to go around them.
Carried on to SH1 near Clinto then head south to Waipahi before turning off towards Tapanui, dry roads all the way until just before Tapanui then wet road but the rainstorm had passed.

Carried on and while following a slower car on the twisty bit just out of Tapanui got overtaken while going around a blind left-hand bend, got past the slower car and followed TJ 3180 to the bends at the Edeivale hill and watched this idiot going around two off the bends completely on the wrong side of the yellow lines.(Will be having words with them!!!)

Carried on to SH8 and on towards Roxburgh, just after getting through the town the T-Sport started making a rev-related metallic noise I hadn't heard
before but as the BigRedEyeOfDoom was not glaring at me decided to head on to Shingle Creek.

Jantar had not replied to our PM before we left home but in true country style the boss at the pb came out and met us saying"There's aguy phoned here from Alexandra asking if you guys were here yet" - phoned Jantar and 20 minutes later he was there.

A drink or two, a nice meal and ayarn or two and we parted again, decided to risk a wet arse and went for the river route past the Blueys - yep, got wet-as for about 15km then it was just the regular force nine gale until home. The 395km felt more like 690km by then!!

Checked the bike after it cooled and the 'funny noise' turned out to be the top engine stabiliser bracket flapping in the breeze!!
BOTH to bolts into the cylinder heads had buggered off - but all fixed now, whew, just love it when it's a"cheap fix" eh?

My ride was a blat out some back roads in the Waikato, windy and wet.

What I learnt, passing an old lady at 130 is way to f'n quick in the wet and wind just before a 55km/h corner. (and it was a 55km/h corner, not just a sign for the sake of it!) This was totally my faul I'll admit.

I also learnt that if you are going to follow a cage expect it to stop anywhere. I was following a cage through some twisties and came to a side road on a 100km/h road, the old guy just slammed on the anchors and stopped in the lane! As I passed him, just, I saw him looking at his map... grrrrr. Thought about going back and having a friendly - but he was as old as my grandpop.

Ah, love a Sunday ride. The rest was great, even with the rain and wind!

I got asked a few weeks ago if I could supply 6 bikes and riders to take cameramen and officials around the cycling / running sections of the World Triathalon championchip round in New Plymouth. We managed to arrange 2 ST1300's, 1 ST1100, 1 Triumph sprint, 1 VFR800 and my Busa.
Saturday was spent with 5 marshalls + 1 photographer on an out and back 40km course enforcing the 'no drafting' rule on the NZ triathalon series round 1. All I can say is good mirrors are essential as pushbikes are quick downhill around corners. Also a few trips ferrying officials around.
Had to laugh when my official asked for a pee stop after wearing a shower of rain & getting that trickling down the crotch feeling.
Today was the international races (mens & womens) around a local closed road circuit where 3 bikes were TV camera ships, 1 ITU official photoghapher and 1 race official (me).
First were the women where I was continually told by my pillon marshall not to follow so close ( especially on the fast downhill sections where they lift their arses off the seat to get a better streamlined profile).
Hardest job was riding the Busa at 15-20kph on the uphills with a mashall that stood up unexpectantly on the footpegs to shout instuctions to competitors. My role was to follow the last competitor & warn them when they were about to be lapped as they then had to pull out, but the plus of this was to then catch up to the next slowest competitor asap. I never realised how bumpy city streets were at speed.
The mens race was very similar but a little quicker ,which was easier on the bike and arms. Nowhere near the punishment those atheletes put themselves thru tho - great respect to them after seeing how quick Docherty and Gemmel are just to make the top 10.
At least I didn't have the same problem following the men too close.

After an early morning wake up to watch the AB's and a decent breakfast I headed over to Makara via Karori, turned around and blasted back up the hill. Realised I wasn't purposely counter-steering a lot of the time, so practised that and also braking a bit later than the last time I went up. Also practised avoiding three abreast push bikers before blind corners:mad:

Had Relli's coming up from Hamilton/Te Awamutu so only 120kms or so in the morning.
South a bit then cut across to the Firth of Thames, coffee at Kaiaua then on to Clevedon,Maraetai,Howick and back on the motorway at Mt Wellington and home.
Good news was my Corbin seat arrived from the US Sat morning, not so good news is the oil in the forks is to lower viscosity (rebound adjusters all the way in and still pattering)...... Otherwise going well, ride is today.
Return trip to Taupo leaving around 1:00 pm or so. :scooter:
