I had a word with the missus last night - I might just be able to make it after all. So all you posers will need to ride in front of me if you want to star on Youtube.
I have a 128 Meg compactflash card in the camera which gives me just over half an hour of footage - if anyone wants a lot of footage bring a compactflash card otherwise you will get what cam time I give ya.

I won't see the missus on Sunday as she's at RRRS at Whenuapai - I was reluctantly going on the 250 run Saturday coz that means I hardly get to see her all weekend and we don't get to see much of each other through the week....I miss me missus!
I'll watch the weather tomorrow - if it's halfway descent I'll arrange a meet and a run that's 250 friendly but prolly not too long. Will post details on site - can't be bothered sending out PMs - if the Police attend that's fine coz I want to keep this friendly for noobies - anyone packed with testosterone trying to break Burt Monro's records can go their own way - if the run happens the pace will be slow to medium.

On ya McJim! I shall sacrifice mounds of fish and chips to the greasy cloud gods in order to placate their souls.
Oh lords of the ride,
Allow us journeymen to lay down rubber,
Black lined and stripped,
Riding to live, living to ride -
Allow us our days of burning desire
Pitting our skill against the tarmac demons,
Make fast the inclement designs of precipatation
Allow us to sacrifice petrol, oil and lubricants,
Thunderous peals of notes exhausted,
Not timid are those that deign to reign to ride!
Right, waiting for that ride now!

I think you'll have to organise it...
These 250 runs just happened when Maverick posted "I'm sitting my restricted tomorrow - anyone want to come out for a ride afterwards?" and I replied. Another 5 guys came too - Black Bandit, Rookie, Ben, Jsn and Duckaddict...in fact here's some history.....

Definitely going to get along to the bike wash for a while, be wrong of me not to!
Of course, this is if I have energy to kick the bike to life - got a practise run in Greenlane at 8am for an assessment on the 19th of December.
Dammit, I just wanna ride!!!
Although be advised, I ride like a nana - can't afford any driving blemishes before I get to college! (Yes, I have Loser plates on as well!)

Well, in the spirit of 250 rides, I perambulated my way down to the Autobahn - and replicated the ride that Dover organises on South Auckland Thursday nights...
However, I didn't take the usual turn to go left at one point and went over to Tuakau - then I kept going because my bike didn't want to turn around so I pootled on through the back country twisties to ... Ngaruawahia! Filled up at BP and since I was so close to Hamilton - I decided to go via Raglan, now if only I could strap a surfboard to my bike! Blatted back to the 'Tron and then beetled back up to Dorkland (just got in! :innocent:).
I guess I need to cut out some of those diversions when I get promoted to Squadron Leader one day! Will have to get up early tomorrow and wash and lube and polish my ride... so it will be ready for the bikini wash!

It's going to be shorter than usual....there are grumblings of "What if we don't get to Mt Eden in time?" so we have to get back to allow some of the young 'uns a chance to spend an hour or two ogling the wet bikinis.

Aye, it was a brilliant bit of soggy fun!
Lessons learned today:
1) Leaning into corners works. I've learned to trust my bike to get me round, I just need to remember that Daisy needs to be encouraged with a bit more body language.
2) Braking into corners should be done well in advance. This avoids scaring the bejesus out of your tail end charlie and having you finish cornering while laying down in a shower of sparks.
3) Wind can be your friend when it's behind you, but when you're leaning 10 degrees into it, be prepared to straighten up bloody quickly when it pisses off!
4) A learner on a quick bike should extend their following distance a bit more until they figure out their stopping distance. McJim almost got a Yamaha enema a couple of times in the first few k's due to an over-zealous newbie.
5) Wear good gear. I don't mind being a bit soggy, but I got home with enough condensed precipitation to provide water to a small australian drought affected town. (working on this, asked the SWMBO if I can investigate decent riding gear, and she didn't throw things at me!)
6) RELAX! It was awesome riding with the other guys, and they will never push you beyond your comfort levels. It took me about 20 minutes to get over my performance anxiety (I'm talking about bikes ya gutter minded perves!), and after a couple of short stops, and some brilliant pointers from GIJoe1313 and crew, I relaxed, stopped worrying about what others might be thinking, and just had a hell of a lot of fun.
7) Avoid Bovine Butt Mud! It stinks, it makes a mess, and it's slippery!
3 firsts today!
1) Met KB people and had an *official ride*!
2) Found 5th gear - 6th is in my sights soon!
3) Made it to 100 km/h - strangely, felt the same as 70, although the rain smacking into my visor was a little louder, which was a bit of a giveaway.
Brilliant day, looking forward to doing it again sometime, although I'd prefer to have my shower in me bathroom, not on the road.

Hmm, Donors post makes me want to come on one now! I actually went out today when the rain cleared to see if I'd find any bikers but to no avail :(

scare the bejesus out of your tail end charlie and finish cornering while laying down in a shower of sparks..??
Having been TEC on the last one of these 250 runs and seeing a fellow biker almost lose it ... i would hate to think that any of us are pushing to hard and having bin's, yes we are out to improve our skills but we all need to know when to stop pushing.. i hope i never have to pick a fellow biker up off the road... that would suck.

Ah, the key is in the two vital omitted words in your quote...
"This avoids scaring the bejesus out of your tail end charlie and having you finish cornering while laying down in a shower of sparks"
I can see how my original post can be taken in another context though... rest assured, my organs are going to be mine for a good long while yet!

I've been whinging all day that I haven't been able to go for a ride for ages....and I'm working lates, so can't take the bike to work without breaking licence conditions. Does anyone else with a GN find the headlight doesnt light up much of the road? Or is it a motorbike thing all over?

Righto chaps! Debriefing a bit late, have to run out and do some clubbing soon! Great turn out for a shite day and a great attitude shown by one and all - I was Tail Gunner and I liked how riders took it easy and didn't do any silly stuff (apart from me at the end doing so :innocent:) At times I wondered if Donor was going to live up to his namesake and I was going :shit: when I saw him trying to emulate McJim at times! (All credit to both, they stayed rubber side down and didn't try to slide it motard across the slippery shite!) :niceone:
Was a short blat, I was hoping squadron leader would be heading out to Tuakau and then onto Raglan via the backblock twisties  Turns out he was a sensible bugger and took in account of the riding conditions and group composition ( A sensible newbie on a bike that could smoke the rest of the group, a scottish madman who is channelling Billy Conollylyylly, a daft rogue squadron leader, some idjits on Hondas and a mad chinaman wokking up the rear!)
Rain was a treat, I was grinning from ear to ear as my boots filled up and smelling two stroker exhaust fumes :headbang:
Rode back to Eden Cycles for the Bikini wash and met JC+Eleanor and lukein250 (Mav was arranging for his next hot jappo ride) and then to Motomail outlet before beetling off home via the long way to practice lane splitting in the rain (alongside a kwaka)
What a day, what a ride (bikini babes weren't too bad, but there needed to be an asian hottie :innocent:) Spotcha all on the next one when there's flooding, loose stock, thunderbolts and lightning and maybe some bikers! :done:

If I hook into my domestic chores early enough, I just might be able to sneak out... but it's going to have to be fine, and as others can testify, I ride like a Nana... a nice shiny yellow Nana...

Not sure, I'm taking it to the garage on wed and awaiting the verdict the next day but a few people seem to think it's just the cam chain that's loose and it'll be fine for riding in the mean time. But I dunno, I think there's something else too.. I'll find out next week, I just can't not ride, it's too fun damnit.

Yeah I took it to Papakura Motor Cycles and the owner Colin had a look and fiddled with it and I booked an appointment for it to be fixed/looked at properly, he said for short term it'll be fine. I suppose I could just cut off the ride and turn around halfway *just incase* hehe

The GN headlights really dont light up much of anything my GN had troubles galore with the headlight ,the switches used to stuff up and i dont think it would ever really get into high beam. replaced about 3 bulbs on it cause they kept falling out the metal bit that holds them in cause the shocks wearnt that good at absorbing bumps haha. strap a couple of flashlights too the front love!!! :sunny:

Got a 160km cycling race on Sat....prob will be still recovering on Sun aswell.
Buddy L and I went out today for a decent blat...Had a ride of his gixxer600.
Highlighted a couple of things aswell---
1) my bike needs a fair bit of work to bring it up to speed....hehe
2) a sports 4cylinder 600 is more intimidating than a VTR1000...im not sure why...might've been the riding position...but i think it was also the way the bike delivered the power.

Your testicles were at home in the jar above the fire place nice and warm while your pennis had shrunk to the point of being mistaken for a turtles head as well as suddenly finding the ability to sing at the notes of a cathloic boys choir.
