How much and are there entries on the day?
$120 Honda Riders Club members
$150 Non HRCM
Im not sure about entries on the day.
If you have a Honda Dealership near you, they should have the details you need.
Im sorry, i dont have any with me.
But if i have to shoot into work today to get stuff for the bike, ill see what i can find out while im there.
These days usually fill up pretty fast, but its a big track, so they may beable to fit a few more than Manfeild in.

you are very right there!
i do not know Aaron, but that young fella Hayden has all my respect, he was very accomadating (sp?) with both luke and I,
and i hope everyone that gets to the track listens to what he has to say, sure he is young, but he has "been there and done" what most of us only dream about:Punk:

Its not about that man. You should know that riding fast doesnt involve balls, its about smooth blah blah
They teach you how to ride fast without scaring yourself. Its not as hard as it sounds.

Probably since being a suzi something will fall off or go bang it after a few minutes :-)

You're right. It's on the 28th and Aaron Slight and Hayden Fitzgerald will be there.... both are not only good riders, but good communicators on a one to one level, and patient too!!!
They're using Track 2, ie the new track only. Not sure if they do entries on the day, but in the past have been full prior to the day.
I think this will be my fourth HRC "Rider Development" day, I've learnt heaps each time! Two other KBers (at least) will be there too.

Ours is on the 27th (Monday) We (stify and I) are going courtesy of Cycle Spot Honda. Don't know if Aaron Slight is going to be there or not......might ring Grant tomorrow and ask....
Apparently there are only thirty of us on the day, and they are even letting us bring the ZXR400!!!!
Can't wait.
Anyone else going on the Monday?

Could get shit for this but here goes
Hayden, young, fast, very professional with a very big future, gets paid a bit by Honda for doing these days
Aaron Slight ( Sorry Aaron) Has been there done that and should have made a fortune, But who does the guy sponsor in our country? No one that I know of?
Grahem Crosby, Simon Crafer, Aaron Slight, all made it!!!!!
Not one of them are giving back directly to the sport! I mean, there is no way Aaron is doing this for free?
Sorry, but I think it really sucks that people like him that have made it can come back home and be buisness men in a sport that they know just how hard it is to make it in.
I Like and trully fully respect Aaron BUT

fair point shaun...
but the way i see it is
that they are THERE...
years ago when we had track days, when i lived in the south, who was there to teach/show us?
no one ( but then again even if there was some-one i would probably still fall off just as much, but with more style:done: )
and if i had $150.00 i would be putting luke in. (but to piss him off he would be using my bike heheheh)

I'm going to both days ie 27th and 28th. Need the practice after crashing last time. Gotta get that turn two sorted. Dont want to get into all that stuff re Aaron. All I will say is that i have had the priveledge of his coaching at several track days courtesy of the Honda Riders Club over the past year. I have found him to be the most patient and professional of all the instructors we have had. Some others have seemed more interested in showing off or just working on their own riding. Aaron in contrast has always been totally focused on instruction and at any level ie ladies doing their very first nervous track day right up to hot shots in the fast group.

Wow, now that is telling me
I never said anything bad about Aaron, in fact I know he is a brilliant coach and spokes man for the Honda brand, I know a lot of riders that have been to the HRC days with his coaching service, and they all rave about him!
I never implied nor said any thing like Mr sensei, so please, do not get foul at me
What i Said, who has he helped as a future NZ/World champion? That was all, plain and simple.
Sorry if my comment offended you Sparky, now about the Que
Sparky Bills
17th November 2006, 11:13
Ok, no offence taken.
But how bout you leave those comments out of this thread as its not really anything to do with getting people to these events.
We want more people to do rider coaching, not think that their coaches are only there because they get paid a shit load (which noone here can even prove).
They both work for Honda, so why would they not get paid?
Thats all im going to say. So if you have any problems please save it for another thread.
Thankyou.

17th November 2006, 11:33
Hey bro, you're right it is a public forum, but noone, including yourself likes a thread being hijacked.
I don't rubbish gixxers in your adverts. I keep that to the "lets all give gixxers and Dover heaps" threads. Much more fun, and I believe you have a right to some focus in those threads.
I don't pipe up in personal adverts for people selling '98 Firestorms with 30k on the clock for $9k when it's really only worth $6K.
Just curtesy (sp, can you fix that for me Shaun).
But on the other hand Shaun, it's fukin awesome that living legends like you are on KB. i get a kick out of your posts.
Shaun
17th November 2006, 12:01
Point taken and I have apologised, I was not trying to be offensive, nor did I even consider it a Thread Highjack.
The HRC Club pioneered track days in New Zealand, and have helped many a rider to be a much more compitent, confident, safer rider!
No sales pitch and No grovelling, they are by far the best most professional day for learning at

The HRC ride days are very well oraginised, one of the best i have been too for sure, they don't even mind GSXR's turning up and ruining the party, mind you it was raining at the last one i did with Motobob!
It's a good envrioment if learning is what you want to do.
I emailed Robyn to find out weather it is indeed full track or just track 2, fingers crossed for full track for you lot, will let you know when i find out.
Any info you can email her robyn@hrcnz.co.nz (i think thats her email?)(too bad if it's not)

For the record it is Track 2, which is the new half only, bit of a bummer it's not the full track, but track 2 is quite good for novices as higher speeds are not as easily acheivable, you can do a reasonably quick lap without even touching the brakes, makes good for working on lines and smoothing your riding style out, then to progress faster when you start using your brakes is easier as well.
Oh i'll be there on the GSXR and another GSXR is tagging along with me.
See you guys there.

Yea i know i was hoping it would be the full track too Martin, oh well at least it aint the 4 (maybe 5) turn old half, then that would really suck.
I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday hooning around a track on my lovely bike whooping a bunch of honda's, that fitzgerald fella might be an issue though, don't know who this Slight guy is though, he fast?

Hey, you peeps, I just talked to Robyn from the HRCNZ, and she said that due to a Taupo track management cock up relating to an FIM inspection on Tuesday morning, the training day will be moved to Wednesday the 29th.
She did say that they are trying to get use of the track on Tuesday arvo for free...it didn't sound 100% firm when I talked to her at midday today though.
She is trying to contact everyone who has registered as coming.
Please check with her if you want confirmation.

What an awesome day!!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND these HRC days to anyone, regardless of which bike you have. There can't have been much more than 40 people there, and we got HEAPS of track time. This was the first time I'd left a track and not been itching for more time out there (although a fucked back probably helped there)
Definitely one of the best organised days I've been to.
Gutted that I didn't get to make more use of the instructors around there, but I was desperate to just get time on the bike after having issues getting it started again.
Good to meet you Sparky and Andre (forgot the KB name)
Cheers to Robyn and the other organisers :niceone:

Was awesome for sure. I did the Cyclespot day on Monday then the HRC day on Tuesday afternoon. My mate Tim and I had the track all to ourselves for the last half hour on Monday. We had a great time practicing different lines at slow and fast pace. Also fooled around doing wheelies ( I'm useless !!) and also tried a few "race" starts off the grid. That was highly entertaining. Very difficult keeping front wheel on ground.
Had a couple of moments with white lines on the edge of the track. Hit the white line once coming onto the pit straight. Back wheel spun up straight away then did a bit of a tank slapper for the next 50 metres. That was fun, two feet from the concrete wall!!
Also hit the white line on the right hand hairpin out the back of the track when I cut the corner too tight. Thought I was gone for all money that time, but a quick dab of the foot and somehow the bike picked itself up and I was away again. Gave all white lines a wide berth after that!!!!!!!
Was a bit stuffed on the Tuesday and took ages to get back into it. Had a couple of great sessions chasing Haydn Fitzgerald around. Could stay in touch with him but never managed to close the gap. Asked him later if he was just cruising but he said he wouldnt have wanted to go much faster on a road bike (he was on the 06 Fireblade). Not sure if he was just trying to make me feel good????
Had a nice ride home with Tim and Leong. One nice police officer could have pulled us over but instead just signalled us to slow down. Radar detectors did their job with the next couple of H/P's we came across.
All in all, a couple of very satisfying days. And a bit of a bonus not having to put in another order for parts (as per previous track day !!)

Didn't realise there were so many KB'ers.
Was there on Monday, you couldn't have missed me I am fairly sure I was the only chick riding!
Had an awesome, awesome day, rode until I started to get a sore wrists...alternated between the ZXR and the CBR, in the end decided that I would get more from the ZXR, the CBR is just soooo easy to ride :)
Aaron Slight was lovely, he followed me for a while then I got to follow his lines for a few laps which was something I had not had before (that is someone competant, consistant and qualified to follow)
Funniest thing that happened on the day:
Was being followed by a guy on his Fireblade who was having difficulty getting past me (so I am told) when he finally got past me he rocketed through into the sequence of three before the front straight and promptly lost it and barrelled onto the dirt, the track, the dirt and then onto the front straight!!! Held it together - just - !!
Was quite a fun sight that's for sure.....
Will definitely be going next year...
