Finally somthing to pass the time, looking out of the window down at a bench with a box on it. Just waiting for the bomb bot to come in and hopefully blow up

12.30pm Thursday November 16, 2006

Police have cordoned off Shortland St in central Auckland after a suspicious container was spotted on a park bench.

A passerby alerted police that a large silver box had been left unattended. The member of the public kept it in his view until officers arrived.

Traffic was being diverted away from Shortland St to Princes St and occupants of a car park building, a New Zealand Post Shop and a nearby apartment building were being evacuated.

The Fire Service and Ambulance services were on standby nearby.

The Defence Force Bomb Disposal Unit has been called out to attend.

police have been there for about an hour now. So that must have been another thing this morning. At least they are working.
I was just thinking of telling the cops its a box full of doughnuts, I'm sure it will be open in no time.

Speaking of which, the bomb squad still haven't turned up, how busy can they really be???

haha, not really mate.

Anyway, the bombot turned up. The guy controlling it made the thing look really nervous, not very fluid thats for sure. So they shot the box, it flew off the bench and then the robot just kind of looked it, that was 10 minutes ago, the thing is still just looking at it. It may be a stash of porn.
I took a picture on my phone, but its too far away to see anything clearly, so it will be on the news later I presume anyway

I guess they get inundated with bombs, all day long. We have sooooo much terrorism and bombings to attend to.
Perhaps they have a permanent spot at Dunkin' Donuts?

Perhaps the guy in the teletubby suit is really just wearing lycra and really IS that size!!!

I've noticed a few times that they've closed down roads because of "bomb scares"

Seriously... thats really sad...

Some Q's

1. How many bombs have been set off in the last 10 years in NZ
2. How many terrorists attacks are there in NZ in the last 10 years?
3. What is there to bomb in Auckland... down a dingy side street?
4. What would be the point in bombing anything in NZ?

Maybe one day I'll be sorry for my attitude... but when they say bombscare... my first thought is "bullshit"

*doesn't see how people can seriously be worried about this sort of shit in NZ*

Its not like we live in Iraq... or the USA or even the UK...

Its like all that bullshit after 9/11... OMG someone might attack the skytower! TUI

it gives them something to do I guess. That robot looked all dusty when it came out of the van. I half wonder if it was a member of the bomb squad who put it there them selves, just for something to do.

Little known fact - there's a sight inhibitor component in semen. As soon as the fireworks go off, sight gets temporarily restored and things can suddenly look a WHOLE LOT worse!

Course it's only a matter of time till the sight inhibitor levels are back to normal and the "any hole will do" approach becomes the norm again
