May not be too exciting for the rest of you but now I've finally got myself an SV1000S and I'm absolutely stoked. It's got a couple of additional panels that cover up the top radiator as well (not pictured). Bring on summer. It definitely needs the pipes done though, far too quiet.

One little niggle though, I get a nasty vibration when I try to accelerate from lowish revs (like around 3,500 rpm) any of you guys get that? I'm told it's something to do with the springs in the clutch.

And since it's so sexy my gf wants one now too :)

With roll on throttle from 3500 you shouldnt get anything much in the way of vibes. But go up a steep hill or give it heaps of gas at those sorts of revs and the old vtwin will shake a fair bit!

Nice, blue was my favourite and I would have got a blue one if it had been available.

its a K4??

its a K4??Naw, with that subframe it's a K3.

Have a dig around the forums mate, I think we had some posts that covered all the usual mods to do (chop the mudguard, free up a little power etc). You can add to the list desnorkel the airbox. Some like the sound, some don't. Takes 10 minutes and it worth a go :)

I was going off the S symbol on the tank - thought that was from K4 onwards?, K3 has full suzuki on the tank?

If the vibration is like a spluttering from 3.5 -> 4.5 krpm then it might be the PAIR valve (look it up) along with a map that helps it pass emissions at low rpm (very lean) the best fix is a power commander, I'm waiting for a K5+ one to show up on TardMe cheap.

Do you get the feeling we should back away now? For what you say is correct... Maybe the tank has been changed... or the badge... or the entire rear subframe and electrics mountings... :dodge:

Thanks for all the good will guys, I will indeed do everything I can to keep it "sunny side up" as you say. Besides I just came off my 250 so I'm in super nanna mode at the moment, nothing exciting until I learn more about myself first.

And well done to the train spotters out there, yes she is a K3 and no the tank isn't. The tank belongs to a K6 650 (and it was originally red). Few things starting to click in place now?...

Long story short it has been dropped and had some of the farings and the tank replaced. I couldn't fault the chassis or the ride when I tested it and since the shop (Twin City Motorcycles in Napier) was being so honest I felt confident. 450km back home and it didn't miss a beat, stoked.

I'm keen for a track day so I can test the top end a bit more without fearing for my licence.
