Is this similar to the regular Kiwibiker track day things? (Which I have never attended either).
Will there be different speed groups?
Is a restricted license okay?
Will there be people teaching stuff on the day?
Will there be cut oranges at half time?
How will I hear the whistle to know it's half time?

Hey, I've never been to a Kiwitrack day but I've been to one MotoTT, Im sure some one with more knowledge should reply some time soon :)

But as far as I know, There is 3 different speed groups. A restricted license should be okay as I'm going and I'm on L's :p. I don't know if there is posted mentors but I'm sure there will be some one there who will be happy to give you a hand if you need any help or have any questions. Don't know about the last two questions sorry.

Hope that helps,

Jas

Holy crap! That's the kind of things you do with oranges at these things? I'd better leave my giant Ugandian bananas at home then. I think I'll sign up for the group that's going slightly faster than you. Distance between you and your fruit is a good thing.

How late would you be cruising down on Thursday night? I was thinking of taking it easy going down on Thursday daytime.

ahahhaha, you'd probably catch me in the slow group as i'm in the medium group ya cheeky munkeeee!

At Puke, following some bloke on a respol blade, comin up the hill i think i'll pass him, but he's weaving left and right...umm. next thing i know Enigma's come up the inside of me, then him and pushed the respsol wide.

front stright the geeza pins his ears back, i catch him going into Jennian and wonder which side might be the easiest/safest... ummm NONE. so.. I do him at the hairpin.... ALL THE WAy down the back straight and i'm just tippin the nose into the hairpin and the fucker decides to come up the inside of me.

I was fumin.. so much so i shouted.. YOU C*NT!!!!!!

that was so funny.. he stood the bike up, ran wide and i flew past him.. heheheheh he came and apologised in the pits, althought he didn't know why. I politely explained i was frustrated cos he was a go fast in a straight line type of guy :p A bit like YOU Allan :p

The weather's pretty crap and supposed to be so all week. Do these things go ahead weather-regardless? I wouldn't want to go down from Auckland for nothing, aside from the fact already, that I'm a bit pissed the weather's like this for my first track day as it is.

If it is raining hard out, will the umbrella girls be able to keep up?

Cheers for the laughs on thurs night guys, bloody good show. Felt a little second hand this morning but rode thru the pain ;)
Took it fairly quietly in the medium group all morning, gave Boomer the learn which was the main point of the day for me, jks.
Got talked into going out with the fast guys later on, pushed myself some to try and keep up with Eddie, didnt happen tho....
Had a go on Boomer's 600, thanks mate! Nice bike tis, very agile and confidence inspiring.
Took the Vixter out 2 (3) up on it too..... was pretty knackard by that point and had to come in due to my leg cramping up :shit:

Good to see;
Gav aboard the new BEAST, nice bike bro and you were going well on it. Your battles with Sudeep were great to watch :chur:
Sudeep, you were looking very fast mate, nice wheelies too.
Eddie, thank you for the learn. Nice form with that 1:45 mate, hauling ass!
Paul, im glad you didnt have a bike there, didnt feel like getting the learn from you too, again. p/t
Jill, the fastest lady i know.... very fast and smooth :chur:
Meekey mouse owning the slow group, boots scraping, pegs scraping. Nice!
Dover improved ten fold this trackday, good shit bro.
Boomer, you're slow :sunny:
Gixxer4ever, loved the multi coloured SRAD :D

A splendid day all in all.

Managed to do 11.5 sessions, would have been 13 sessions if I didn't run out of brakes in the middle of the day and empty my fuel supplies in the end.

2.5 tanks of fuel and about 400kms in total. What a hoot.

Only problem I had was my brakes started to cook when I was doing consequtive sessions.

Thanks for the lift BlackBuell.

Eddy - thanks for the brake bleed bud.

HDTBoy - HUGE THANKS FOR CHANGING MY PADS FOR ME.

Farque, knackered after all that.

Was a really well run day put on by Steve and his crew, I'd recommend this Kiwitrackdays crowd as much as any.

Good to see new 'n old faces there.

Missed a session due to bike mishaps again, this time an oil filter spewing oil all over my tyre. Thanks to a good bugger there (Mouse), got that sorted without great stress.

Riding wise I was a bit disappointed. Sorta gone backwards since the last day out I had on the bike. Guess I'll just wait 'til I get the bike back from GP M/C, give it another crack and see how it goes.

WAS FRIKKEN BRILLIANT.

Ok well after my first track day test (the suzuki gsxr day) I kinda got a bit of an itch I wanted to scratch. So i decided to get some better tyres and have another crack. My aim for the day was to do 2 mins flat. But with brakes still fecked (gonna replace the whole bloody thing) wasn't looking to promising.

But anyway tootled out on the track. First session was ok, was getting a feel for the tyres and a refresher on the track. Second session I had an awesome play with boomer (real smooth awesome riding man) and managed to hit 2 mins flat.

Third session I didn't do to well. had a moment and then things went downhill from there, but still had fun.

Bled brakes and went out for a 4th session where I really started giving it some.

Then keystone went out with me and showed me some lines and apparently I did a 1:57 or so (was going pretty good) thanks heaps jill.

Had a couple more session where I was just having a blast, can't wait for the next one.

So.. to be honest i wasnt that hopefull when we arrived in taupo, thurday night after all we encountered a whole lot of sleet on the way, but like a good little boy i said my prayer before i went to bed, (just after i tea-bagged Jono" ..or was it Jill, cant quite remember,) anyhow ,the gods provided us with a great day of sunshine--

great to see familiar faces at the track, its kinda addictive this stuff trackday and all, Great battles between boomer" Dover and affman, you guys were a sight to see,
kiwifruit definately should take his arse outta the medium group and come play with Jill and me,, (ya cant hide forever!!)
ps the same deal applies to Boomer Dover and Aff. (allthough none of them can catch vickster)
Black buell was on form, probably amped from his drive with jsg...
Salo nice lines,, and the ones on the track as well.!!.:gob:
Keystone, Well what can i say. looked at ya rear for quite some time, (it aint bad) what ya think of mine:shit: !!:innocent:
Brett almighty thanks for bringing the pit tents, saved me skin i reckon ,!!

Jas cheers for ya help on me brakes, i was fucked for a while there

untill next time folks, bring it on i say

ps kiwifruit, i must make it to your joint""" for a drink sometime--:innocent:

Just back and sort of un packed... i'm knackered!

What and awesome couple of days, set of at 4 thursday to pick Sudeep up then off to get Dover & Vic we turn up at papakura at 6;30 ( i could have been to Taupo by now )

3 in a bed again... this is becoming a bit of a habit; some drinks at chez Kiwifruits and we're off to bed, early at 2:30, feeling slightly pissed.

Steve.. what a top day mate, Smooth, hassle free AND FUN!!!!! top marks to you and the boys and girls; i'll be back! ( if you promise you don't black flag me :p

first session, took it slow got a feel for things, second session wanted to get my knees down again... so Dover me and Aff had a play in the medium group. couldn't get my knees down until i came onto the pitt striaght when wallop... my knees down? strange; i hadn't been trying :o it turns out the back let go and i managed to save it on my knee.. well theres a first. After that it was knees down all the way on all but 1 corner and i realised getting ya knees down aint just for show but actually helps gauge how far over your cranked ( or not in my case.. cheers kiwi fruit! ) and to have them scrape all the way throught the corners is an awesome feeling !

Aff, you gave it some on that bike mate, i had fun playing with you Dover, Kiwifruit ( for a lap or two ) ..some good battles.

Well the fast crew are definately something to aspire to; Eddie, Sudeep, Gav, kiwifruit & keystone .. well maybe not you Jill as i did give you the learn ;) Nice riding guys, i loved watchin you do ya thing.

Dover, nice riding bro! i had a huge amount of fun

cheers all, i'm off to watch the video and see the pics i took and i'll be back in the morning to edit this drivle and make sure i add the shit i forgot .. ps.. Black Buel.. nice work mate; you've got some style mate!

cheers all!

Sounds like you lot had a right good time! Thanks to kiwifruit for looking after my bike, gonna want it back next time in the 'paw tho bro!

Unfortunately i only managed one lap around the block today (still no licence) but i managed a good 200m wheelie that impressed a couple of young locals!

Hope everyone is home safe and sound, no doubt reading from these few posts that everyone had a blast... how the hell did JSG get out 11.5 times?

that was funny, we all set off and on the back straight i thought i'd out brake you and Eddie.. Tui moment :shit: i used the run off and found myself cutting back onto the pitt straight via teh grassy knoll or 3; i managed to catch you all up again just in time for the last lap :second:

i learnt some new terminology thanks to Leong.. "Sandbagging". apparantly he thought i was slow and going slow on purpose until I passed him at the end of the session :innocent:

The battles Dover and i had with the shane on the black zx10 were fun, carrying the corner speed trying to over take only to have the bugger pin the throttle back on the exit was 'challenging' ... i learnt alot those couple of laps trying to pass you Shane

Thanks Everyone for an awesome couple of days, i'm aching all over now!

Yes it was another awesome Taupo trackday. Very well run, even when things didn't go to plan. They had a prize draw at lunchtime and a lucky prepaying customer went home with a pair of new Dual Compound Pirelli Diablo Corsa 3 tyres worth around $700. Two others won free trackdays and one a special T-shirt.

Our adventure began when four of us left Auckland after 6pm and after various delays had to ride from Tokoroa to Taupo in the dark, rain and a reasonable amount of traffic. No fun, and even less for Ninjaboy, who only had a dark visor, so followed my taillight.

The trackday itself was the usual adrenaline rush though I struggled a bit with tyres. I was happy to pass Aff-man in the first session, as that will be the last time I pass him!! Mate, I sat out the last session to watch and get some video of our group, and you looked awesome out on track with Jill, Boomer and Ninjaboy. Of course we all knew you would!

Great video Kiwifruit, though I can't see myself in it.... what i do with the .mov files my cam takes is;
convert to avi using "rad tools", link in the third (5th? .... *pours another drink* )post here: http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/1321p1.html,
then open it with windows movie maker, edit etc, then save...

Fantastic day guys! The weather was awesome, the company great, one of those excellent days!

I didn't ride particularly well in the first 3 or 4 sessions, brakes need some work, tyres are nearly cooked and I just wasn't on my game. But by the end of the day , I gave up worrying about it all, relaxed and had a blast - must remind myself to do that more often...

Big ups to everyone out there - I'm always a bit nervous going in the fast group on my 650 - but it's always great fun figuring out how to get past the bigger bikes when there's no way I can even begin to match their speed on the straights.

Gav was looking fantastic on his new toy.
Sorry to Sudeep for outbraking myself down the front straight just as he was trying to go round me - my bad...best of luck for Wanganui, wish I was there to watch the wheelies.
Awesome to see Sallo out there for the first time, starting to look much more confident by the end of the day.
Eddie, I think I might have to get a Gixxer just to give you the learn properly...
Jono you were looking great by the end of the day - just imagine what you will do when we can get you on a decent bike!!

Awesome vid, well.. the 2 minutes you took :p

Kiwifruit.. CLEAN YOUR F***KIN BLADE NEXT TIME! !!!!!!

There's about 40min worth but almost all boring - I started close to the front in the afternoon sessions when I had the camera mounted so didn't see much traffic. The camera's a great way to see if your riding's improved but you need to have a clear track. No, not since the off. When I tried to get video with other bikes, we got the red flag on the warm up when the ambulance wasn't there, and somehow I started the next session at the front again. If it was anything like Allans, I would upload it. The vids are edited and compressed - .mov is the native Quicktime format Macs use. Need to learn about hosting on youtube etc tho.

Sat out the fifth session and got some pretty amateur trackside vids. Must have been impressed by the Aff-man as he features in all three clips. Aff-man leads Keystone, Ninjaboy and Boomer then Kiwifruit goes round the outside again and Boomer is frozen in time.

nice work mate.. the set up is sweet and your riding was smooth; i lost a good 30 seconds on that first lap cos i went all the way off the back straight run off.. so it took me the whole session to catch you all up again and JUST pass Ninjaboy on the last lap ;) * im off to watch it now and i'm definately gonna make myself a proper vid mount

Aff-man leads Keystone, Ninjaboy and Boomer then Kiwifruit goes round the outside again and Boomer is frozen in time.

might be boring tou you, but the rest of us still wana see!
honestly, is great to watch such footage, brings us all back to the time we were there

(upload the whole 40min! :gob: )

downloading the trackside vid now, on dial up

I always get wind noise, any tips?
Try some high density foam over the mic mate. Cuts down the wind noise dramatically plus saves your mic from any damage caused by the wind

It's been an interesting day today. Joe, who was on a Black GSX1400 in the medium group also had a video camera mounted and today allowed me to borrow his tapes and share his video with you. It's pretty good in my opinion. So here is session 1. The video is 20 minutes long. I've uploaded a 22MB 160x120 version, and a 96MB 320x240 version, which is the same quality as the other two I posted in this thread, is still uploading. Probably available tomorrow morning. Don't attempt downloading it till the filesize is correct.

The video features Aff-man, BlackBuell, Dover, Boomer, Kiwifruit being passed, JSG, Ninjaboy, Kiwifruit passing Joe, the yellow flag incident at turn 1, a few others, me, and Joe having a moment at the end of the back straight.

Enjoy!!

Kiwifruit - If I was to muscle a nimble sports bike I'd fall off with fright!! Your head must have cleared mate cause you 'hammered' us all with a sledgy in the following sessions!

GREAT work Leong - Smooth riding too, 'especially' for a new rider.

HDTBoy - HUGE THANKS FOR CHANGING MY PADS FOR ME.
No worries. They must have done the trick, cause I almost ran into the back of you :dodge:

Gav was looking fantastic on his new toy.
Sorry to Sudeep for outbraking myself down the front straight just as he was trying to go round me - my bad...best of luck for Wanganui, wish I was there to watch the wheelies.
