This guy rides his Trials bike in an Endurocross against pro's on factory bikes - he won his qualifying heat and came 9th overall. Not only is it about speed, but picking lines and getting over obsticals, obviously the trials bike picks up a lot of time there.

The other riders would have beaten him if they'd been on 450's....

Yeah, and it would have been a much faster race if they'd picked up those logs first too...

The other riders were lazy and sat down half the race anyway. He dropped his bike after the other guy and picked it up and got under way before the other guy even got on his bike.....I'd say he expended less energy looking at how he rode.

all the other riders who normally ride 450's chose to ride 2 stroke 250's as they are light, easy to start and are just as quick in tight situations,

My tongue was firmly in cheek when I wrote that; must use smilies more...

That may be so, but look at the size of the crowd. That's a lot of paying punters who are all having a blast without getting their shoes muddy.

And there's popcorn and Coke! The Yanks turn any outdoor sport into a stadium sport - MX to SX,stadium trials etc. They will never get a round of the WRC because they won't walk 5 km into a wet muddy forest and have no popcorn or Coke on hand - look to the US round of the WRC being Stadium Rally!

They seem to do pretty well without the WRC, clicky (http://www.rallyusa.com/).

Todays WRC rounds are a pale shadow of their former years anyway. The FIA would no doubt love them to take place in stadiums, imagine the TV opportunities.

I just watched it again, it's still incredible. I love the X Games

And my Dad's Montesa is pretty quick. In 5th gear you'd be doing about 50k :p

Trouble is a trials bike has a heavy flywheel and very small brakes, the flywheel has enough energy to overpower the brakes. It may of been stock, but it's also possible he could of done a few mods to make it more suitable for the job....firm up the suspension for intance. We hoon around between sections at a trial,it's a lot of fun - but you have to be carefull of your tyres as a big bump can pinch them....and on a steep downhill the flywheel will start pushing the bike.

Awsome video. Looks like a trails course anyway! Looks much easier i.e. less energy used than the mx bikes.

Bet his thighs were jelly though.A trials bike has short travel soft suspension, and the riders legs are part of the suspension too, absorbing bumps and keeping the wheels on or off the ground. It takes a lot more physical effort to ride a trials bike than they make it appear - I know that from first hand experiance, after riding a trial yesterday my thighs, back shoulders and arms are all sore and stiff....feels good.

Nothing like a good work out though! :Punk:

Whatever the case he looks like he rides it much cleaner than the MX dudes.
