Hi guys

Just arrived from the UK and my Yamaha FZS600S fazer is due to arrive in Auckland tomorrow. Could anyone tell me where the best place to shop for parts and clothes is in Auckland. I'm on the north shore but can travel. I need:

New rear suspension (Showa or similar as soon as I get my first wage packet!)
Leather trousers for my girlfriend
New tyres (in the next three months probably)
Any good meets in the area coming up?

Thanks for your help.

cycletreads has a good range and average prices and absolutly shit customer service, (don't expect them to come over to you, you have to ask them all the questions, but there happy to help, just not proactive in getting u help, everytime ive been in there ive been ignored untill i askthem...) BUT you get to ride your bike INTO the shop, and for that reason alone, I go there for tyres (they have the best range i belive correct me if im wrong)/ odd bit of clothing.

Quasimoto has awesome stuff too and really good prices (you can send me my share of the profits now quasi.... )!

welcome mate,
a fair few bike shops in auckland - you'll find the RANGE isn't quite as extensive as in the UK, so there isn't any real one stop shop. You might need to do the tour!

On the North shore you have Holeshot Suzuki on barrys point road, does gear as well. Across the street is cycle threads, never actually been there but I hear very good things and do alot of gear by all accounts.

On the other side of the bridge try colemans suzuki, the red baron, haldanes, mount eden motorbikes and AMPS (auckland motorcycles and power sports). they are all in within a short drive from each other.

further afield there are some good bike shops in Hamilton and Wellington, but you'll get what you need in auckalnd EVENTUALLY.

Look at the "events" section of the forum for meets and such like, there is always something happening.

cheers

Don't take it to a shop for the suspension work as half the monkeys don't really know jack about setting up a bike properly.

Take it to someone like Suspension Tech in ellerslie he does all my bikes and is probably one of the best suspension speacialists in the country, there is also a Kber called Danger (i think) he's based out west i haven't heard anything bad about his work.

For the rest of it try Spectrum on the shore good guys amd good service

I can do your leathers at a better price than the shops and without sacrificing the quality, and I offer a cup of tea and you have my full attention and you get a nice little ride in, or see my Auckland distributor

Thanks all for the info. 2 questions though, what's wrong with Auckland and does everybody here work for Quasimoto?

Actually, don't want to rekindle a debate that's probably raged on here before. Thanks again. I look forward to meeting some of you in the Auckland area. Look out for a red, silver and black old style fazer!

nothing wrong with Auckland mate, it should be the capital of NZ. The rest of the country gets upset with AUckland because we get everything, new roads, heaps of funding and a nice new stadium when ever something big happens. The Americas cup village, tall buildings and great coffee. Wethers shit but you can't have everything.

Cycletreads will do you a great deal on tyres if you mention KB and have a huge range of gear.
www.cycletreads.co.nz
all the details are there. Also make sure you go check out the motomail outlet store in Kingsland. they have end of line gear at awesome prices.
www.motomail.co.nz

oh yeah, and motohause is right next door to motomail outlet store, check his tyre prices also.

nothing wrong with Auckland mate,

Indeed Auckland is brillient. Especially North Shore...

Take this for example. I drove around North Shore for 5 years and always parked my car on the road. - never a theft or vandalism on my car.

I bring that same car over here to Palmy and in the year and a half that I've lived in this house, it's been broken into 5 TIMES!!! right outside my house!!!!

I hate this fucking town. - The reason why I'm moving back to north shore next year....

Decided to buy some Draggin Jeans today and thought for a change I would go to a bike shop I don't usually frequent. Walk in at 9.15 and hovered around the clothing section for what felt like eternity (possibly 5-10 mins), plenty of staff around and not one bothered to come over any see me. Finally asked someone if they stocked Draggins and was told that they only stocked Technics, were over there (pointed in general direction) and that they were $100 cheaper....... then walked off to the snack machine - and so did I, walk of that is.

I do not complain. I take my business elsewhere. Went to Motomail, got good service and spent the additional $100 with no post-purchase regrets.

When will motorcycle shops realise that you and I are the reason for their business and act accordingly.

Now feel better I have told someone..........:done:

Auckland is to NZ what London is to the UK.

Everyone raised in Auckland is unaware of anywhere outside of Auckland.

Auckland is the only place in New Zealand where you can earn half of a UK salary - in other parts they will only offer you a quarter (unfortunately you srtill have to pay 150% of a UK house price)

Auckland believes it is where everything is happening (despite a propensity to chase sporting events away)

The rest of the country believes it is paying for Auckland - but Auckland believes it brings the most money into the country...as a result there's a sort of hate -hate relationship here - it's nice to sit on the fence and watch them fight though.

Welcome to New Zealand.

Bloody Hell i thought New Zealand was a city and we lived in a country called Auckland.

At the end of the day the only thing the rest of the country is good for is setteling Maori land claims and growing drugs

Motomail have moved to 41,college hill road, Ponsonby. & they still have the old place at western springs road though now its only a clearance outlet so if you want goods on reduced prices then its a nice place to stop at. I picked riding trousers for the mrs for 250 bucks . I think it was a spidi and was reduced from 450 bucks. For tyres i have been to Motohaus at western springs rd( kerry does have a good range of tyres and is a pretty decent bloke). Cycle treads is another good one that stocks heaps of gear. Welcome to Nz bud you will enjoy the riding here. Decent roads good bikes and a very friendly biking community
