hmm, I went out to the garage today to get the lawnmower out and also put away some tools that the teenage boy had failed to return to the shed, only to find my bike had it's bars slightly out of alignment, I thought I'd start her up and while moving her out I realised the whole assembly was loose so I checked it out and with great difficulty tightened the inaccessible nuts that hold the whole shebang together, then I took her down the road for a spin and the motor kept cutting out, I know what causes this problem and it's to do with worn terminals in the ignition barrel which don't give me trouble unless I turn the key too far one way or the other, I know who definately didn't do it and according to the teenager he didn't do it either, so my powers of deduction point to the only possiblity, and that is the phantom strikes again. YEAH RIGHT, incidently the phantom goes for his restricted cage licence on friday :argh:

Look on the bright side, when he gets his restricted, you won't have to sit next to him and operate the passenger's imaginary brake pedal ;)

he isn't just an expert driver though, he's an expert in EVERYTHING! I mean even the things he doesn't know about yet, he's given me rsi in my imaginary brake pedal foot! LOL

:Oi: I used to drive cars like that. They're bloody good, not pieces of crap. Driven plenty of them that'll whip the pants off a CBR250R, down the quarter or on the track, wet or dry...

How's about those 'expert' learner/restricted riders who think they're the ducks nuts on their 'full race' CBR250's... oops, I didn't mean that.

Nothin' personal dude (just putting your statement into context as there are many bike riders here who also appreciate their cars (& trucks!)) - just watch what you say, eh?

well Drunken Monkey, I'm on my bike learners and consider myself quite crap thank you very much!

..I think I'd currently be faster on my pushbike than my motorbike, but thats beside the point..

..rather I've seen a few too many teens blow lotsa $ on cars of that ilk and then think they are Tommy Makinen and drive according.. Given the money I would have probably made a similar bad decision as a teen.. I'm not suggesting that those cars are crap per se, rather I'm suggesting that they are not a good decision for a teen to learn in etc.

For me now though, I'm honest enough with myself to admit that I've got a lot to learn, and have found the CBR a good learners bike so far, docile enough at low revs, but with enough 'zing' to keep me entertained as my skills develop..

Aye, I wasn't out to tear strips off ya. I am of a small faction on this forum who love their cars as much as their bikes.

Indeed I beleive your point was outlining the 'I'm a fricking expert' attitude some young'uns have. Granted the first car I owned (although not the first car I had) was a Legacy RS - hence my soft spot for fast fours, but then I managed successfully to never wrap it (or any subsequent jap turbos) around a tree (or put it through a fence like my next door neighbour).

It was a piss-take too, as I am in no position to lecture other motorcyclists on what is a wise choice for a first bike - unless it's a case of do as I say, not as I do.

Your 'baby 'blade' is a more sane (and infintely more legal) choice of first bike than mine ever was...

Anyway, I've had my rant for the day :rockon:

If he is anything like the teenage boy here he will fail his restricted first try. T.B. here drove with one hand on the wheel and one on the handbrake thought it looked "cool" I guess, told him not to and to keep BOTH hands on the wheel - guess why he failed the test? :wacko:

well, he passed the test by the skin of his teeth, the cop was a real nice guy and let him pass with a little speech about actually STOPPING at a stop sign !!!!!!
