A guy who bought my ZXR has broken down in Paeroa, he has run out of the golden good stuff (Petrol :)) or maybe oil...not sure, but he seems to think his tank is empty. He is in the middle of nowhere on the straights before paeroa, if there is anyone who could help him out, give him a call on 021 058 0452.Thanks.

Did he not fill it up after picking up the bike, or at least insuring it had a full tank?
How far is he heading to?
Maybe he could flag down a passer by to bring back a tank of gas for him...
Or what about a local farmer as they always have fuel on their farms.
Just a few suggestions.

I dunno, i sold him the bike about 3 weeks ago, and he just rang me from the side of the road saying that it had broken down mid-corner, which sounded a tad odd to me since the bike was MINT when i sold it to him, so i sorta had to do an armchair analysis of what might have happened, he said that it was not very hot, i.e. had not overheated, i got him to check all of the major switches and terminals and then asked the obvious question of does it have fuel...and he said no... so guess that must be it!

Oh so he has had it about 3 weeks now..... ok
Well best he start pushing it to the next petrol station.......
He will have learned a valuable lesson here. Keep an eye on the fuel consumption.
Does this bike have a 'reserve' tank on it?
If so does he know where the 'tap' is to turn it around?
While pushing it some local farmer will take pity on him and give him enough gas to get to the next gas station. He is on the main road heading into Paeroa so there is sure to be someone that will come along.
PS: No I cant help out as Im in Auckland.

Yep he will learn, does have reserve, but he had already used it up. He better NOT have run it out of oil, it better have been fuel. If he has nuked it, i take no responsibility, even though he is a good dude.

Nope you have no responsibility at all, if he has 'nuked' it, as he has now owned it for 3 weeks. And should be watching the oil etc.

The AA will come out and help you if you run outta petrol, or have a puncture, but then you have to sign up to be an AA member on the spot and it costs $100 or so because they don't give you any discounts when you sign up at the roadside. Good to know tho.

I will give them a call on Monday. Now that I ride alone, the possibility of a disabling mechanical failure has sometimes occurred to me. And many of the roads I rode are lonely with little traffic.
So far I have always been able to limp home after jury rigged repairs if necessary. But sooner or later something will happen that simply cannot be repaired at the roadside. Granted, a night or two out is not the end of the world, but it would be better to avoid it.
And the AA are a totally useless bunch of wanking pillocks.

Honda Riders Club do a "Get you to a Service Centre" deal. Appears to be only available to Honda riders so that cuts a few out!!
I signed up due to our planned South Island Christmas travels.
Their web site seems to be closed down at present but the contact person is
Robyn 09 5710982 or 021 408188 email robyn@hrcnz.co.nz and cost me a whole $35 for a year and you also get a magazine ?? times a year!

It may be stating the obvious, but if he's got a cellphone, why doesn't he ring a friend to bring him some petrol? Seems a bit pointless to ring the guy who sold you the bike weeks ago!

Tried that when I locked the keys inside once, 7 years ago, at a mall in Chch. They flatly refused to come help (a locksmith did it in 3 seconds though thank goodness). As far as I'm concerned the AA can go fuck themselves. SRA for teh win.

I have heard that said too many times. I personally would not waste my time or money on the AA.

I'll have to beg to differ with you on that score old chap.
AA have saved my arse on several occasions and been well worth the measly $1 or so a week it costs me to be a member.
Better than giving that $1 to some starving little turd in africa at anyrate :first:

nah, AA are a bunch of shit heads that are there for profit only and u usually have to wait about an hour before they show up. bunch of inbred retards who have destroyed what was once a business for the motorist and now are only for themselves.

Im with the AA... and I have had to go home on a tow truck 2 times (flat beds). once was from out westgate way (shattered CV on motorway, and lost steering *lucky*), all the way to Pakuranga!! and it only cost $20 and the AA cover the rest... another time when I blew up my previous car in the city, towed from city out east for $20... Locked my keys in my old ute a couple of times, they came out and 5secs later I was on my way again. No issues with the AA... I've been a member for 7 years and they've always saved my ass when I needed them to.

Yeah i do seem to share the sentiment mark, i will be pissed if he has buggered it, tho he paid good cash for it, so it is his right to do whatever he wants to it i suppose.

It seems weird to me that someone would ring the person they bought the bike off 3 weeks earlier because they have run out of petrol, I mean what sort of person would do that?? WTF
