V-Rods are OK

Hey took an 03` v-rod for a ride the other day, awesome it was so easy to ride, thought to myself OMG it`s another Harley, but was pleasantly surprised , it had a nice rumbling feeling ,pulled away well ,cruised nicely (needed another gear though)sorry that`s the sprotsbike rider talking ,didn`t get to lean over too far the owner had only just put some new rubber on the rear after a blowout coming up from the Naki at 4 in the morning. I certainly have a new respect for the V-Rod ,might look at one when the need for speed decreases.:yes:

As I was fortunate enough to be able to report in this months - and next months - Kiwi Rider - the 07 harleys are really nice, modern motorcycles.

Take a Steet rod for a burn too - just a fabulous bike. Good as any from europe of japan. many of the components and design come from thar.

Yep, a mate of mine bought a VRSCB a few months ago. He gutted the pipes (removing the balance pipe, and about 5kg of other metal that doesn't need to be there), and added the Screaming Eagle end caps. Sounds heaps better and is shitloads quicker, although I would look at something from SuperTrapp instead of the SE endcaps if it were mine.

So we went for a ride, got out of town, I short-shifted the RSV-R at about 9 grand, for the first couple of gears, cos I didn't want to humiliate him too much, and next thing - rooooooaaaaar. The low C of G means V-Rods can propel themselves forward while the Aprilia is trying to wheelie. I didn't get past him till I hit about 200k, and a bend in the road.

The 'Rod hit the rev limiter at about 220k, but it got there surprisingly quick. The guy that owns it can fang it along pretty bloody well, and has already surprised quite a few people on sprotsbikes. The pillion arrangements aren't the best, but mine are non-existant. Fark, beaten again??

Love to see a V-Rod donk in a Buell though...

I'll add my $0.02 to the discussion. Haven't tried the V-Rod, but I was very impressed with the Street Rod.

My only real complain was all the tossers on Harley-Davidsons who finally decided I was cool enough to wave to.

Had an '03 V Rod friday arvo through to this morning and have to say I really did enjoy it. Pity about its lack of ground clearance but otherwise a good fun cruiser with enough grunt to keep most amused for a while.
Different sound to a "normal" Harley obviously...I prefer the 60º V motor's thump but that's a personal preference more than anything.
Whould I own one? Hell yes but I'd require a sprotbike aswell as for my corner fetish.

FWIW the Street Rod is same bike with really (like really) good ground clearance.

Took one for a ride a couple of years ago and the first corner after leaving Anza I scraped the foot-peg. I didn't really like it around town but once it was over 80ks it was a different ballgame. The funny thing about it was having no front end really visable.( too used to bigger bikes )

One of my claims to fame is that I was the first female in NZ to ride a V-Rod... thats a few years back when they first came out and there was just 1 demo model doing the rounds of the dealers...
ANYWAY... I really enjoyed it and that was despite the fact that I had trouble reaching the forward footpegs! A surprisingly good ride and the guys I know who own Rods throw them around no problemo.
But I think my pick would be the new Street Rod...mmmm!
