Who's the guy with the parrot

pulled up to the side of the road today to have a chat to a mate on a bike...... a couple of bikes drive past, give them the usual nod/wave, then notice the second one has a huge white parrot perched on the steerin head:gob: :gob: :gob: . obviously out enjoying a nice day of riding:scooter: . is it anyone on here??? cause it was pretty cool. btw bike was prolly an early 90's cbr or something...... dunno.... too busy looking at the parrot.

my cats not up for it.. even tried duct tape... doesnt work.

there was a guy years ago had a Honda 500/4 or some such thing who had a jack russell that used to stand on some carpet on the tank it used to lean on the corners etc, probably long gone now

my blue mini, pebbles, broke down oneday so i asked a mate if he could give me a lift to work.
He turned up with his dog on the tank. The dog was a staffie x. She sat on that tank like she was born on it. Front feet on the handle bars...leaning into the corners. Took me down TeNgae rd (s) and all the way past nongataha(s). (Rotorua)

Cat's name was Rastus, what a cool bugger - even had a set of sunglasses to keep the wind out of his eyes! :cool:

The guy's name was Max Corkill. I think, from memory, his missus Gaynor died as well (presumably in the same crash)?

My cat heads for the bush whenever I start my bike - not much chance of converting her to a biker.

Don't know the guy/gal with the parrot, but there was a guy in Oz who's dog (little blue heeler) rode on the tank of his RSVR. Something happend and the dog ended up going under the rear wheel along the highway. RIP doggy.

Rastus was theeee most hardcase cat... :yes: he & Max shared a cuppa tea every morning, & Max had Rastus so well trained, so that he would only eat his food when he heard Max say a certain word.. & even if he slipped the word randomly in the middle of an unassociated sentence.. Rastus would hear it & then eat his dinner!

I met them in ChCh in 95, when they lead the SPCA charity ride. Rastus was such a staunch dude!! & Max a really lovely guy.. genuine salt of the earth! It says on the 'Rastus fan club' badge that I have on my badge board.. that they had travelled 100,000 miles together in Canada, USA & NZ. When travelling, they were on a BMW K75-RS.. which is what they were riding when they were all killed. Rastus was tucked inside the tankbag when travelling on the BMW. From what I remember.. a car load of hoons was coming around the corner, & was well over on the wrong side of the road.. & hit the bike head on. I still have their funeral video here somewhere!

Incredibly sad that these sort of Icons that do so much good in the world, are the ones that seem to get wiped out!!! :(
