View Full Version : Crash on Peak Rd, GSXR 1100 '89 (26 November)
Chaosmage
26th November 2006, 14:45
Came accross a GSXR 1100 '89, left lying on side of a driveway, looks like it came around a corner and over into a ditch/concrete driveway.
This is likely to have happened sometime after the Thrusday night ride 23th Nov and before 2pm Sunday 26 Nov.
Just wondering if the rider is ok? Anyone know who it might be, was a generic black/silver colour fairing. Had a police checked scene sticker on it.

Having seen this bike up close today.......
Chaosmage and sl1nky - stopped to check if all was ok as I was standing there.
I had stopped to see if the rider needed assistance, but no sign of him/her.
Other riders on cruisers also stopped and another dude on a bike as well.
Even a vehicle stopped to see if all was ok.
Yep the bike is a total write off....... forks bent out of shape and the front end is totally munted.... no sign of wheel marks on the road.
The front rim is farked beyond repair.
The concrete driveway has two huge bits removed off the edge of it where the wheel hit it.
I really hope the rider is ok after seeing this bike.

could it not just be 'placed' there to give us a stir up? Not saying that an accident didnt happen because i havent seen it, although I did ride peak road on Saturday morning and didnt see anything.

u can sorta see where he/she has come from though
a bit dumb to 'place it there'
as ppl stopped - ie - crashe my self and my brother.
and then because we had, more ppl stopped, other bikes,
cars turned round.
i cudn't imagine police would place it there... its a dumb idea.
unless you are saying that someone else did, i.e. a resident.

So therefore it happened sometime between sat arvo and sunday 2pm.
I dont believe that bike was planted there at all......
The bike has since been removed now as it was gone last night when we rode back down Peak Road.

Yes we rode down Peak Road last night......... and then onto Old North Rd where we stopped to all say goodbye.
As we went past the scene of the accident on Peak Road I checked and the bike was gone.
Footnote: After we left Helensville we were on 16, then we turned right by that church (that is Peak Road we turned right into) then we turned left down into the windy section to go throu the forest part (that is Old North road)
You will soon learn which road becomes which road out there...:dodge:

OOH! right, yeh i remember, now, we turned left into old norht, i was thinking we turned right.
but yep, i was distracted by the slow truck and concentrating on when to get'em, so fully missed the corner that the bike crashed on.
i had no clue where we were, buzzed out when i recognised the forestry part! lol, took me long enough to click where we were.

He was the dude who pinged me for '149' back in the good old liberal days when 50 over got you your licence suspended.
Guess I'm pretty thankful to him for at least letting me ride home at 9pm on the deserted highway on Sunday night...but I did expect a little more love and empathy from a fellow petrolhead.

No pack rack on the back at all......
Both mirrors and screen were not attached to the bike at all, as they were on the ground beside the bike.
Bike gone from the scene of the accident now.....
