Bad news I'm afraid. I was coming home from work last night, when a car coming the other way decides to do a U turn right before the brow of a hill. I come over the hill and hey presto, there it is right across the road. I slam on the anchors, but the bike goes into a fishtail and I end up doing the tango with the road. Amazingly I came out minus some bark and sore right ribs and hip. The bike ended up hitting the back of the car and doing extensive fairing damage.:oi-grr:

Bugger - sad to hear about the damage bud, glad you got off lightly though.

Did the driver get a helmet enema?

Oh dear. Get well!

Glad to read this is one where you walked away from. Sorry to read about your 2nd oops on this bike. Hopefully the replacement cost of your fairings won't write the bike off, otherwise, could always go for a more naked look.

Got any pictures?

What do you mean "minus some bark"?

Hi zadok, really feel for you mate not just for the bin but you really do keep your bikes in immaculate condition and then some half baked loser cocks it all up for you!

If you are injured do you have to involve the police over there too? If you do I hope they sling the book at the prick.

Good luck with the insurance.

Hope you are not too knocked around and mend quickly. Cheers John.

Hell Marty - not nice. Glad you're substantially OK. Hope the damage isn't too serious.
I've noticed a lot of U turners on hills around here lately - and they aren't even Asian students!

...send you over some good Quazi leathers ?.

After yesterdays weather, it'd be heat exhaustion all round......

Bugger mate that sucks.

Do you get to claim it against their insurance for them being a dumbass?

Thanx for all the encouragement guys.
The bike gets picked up tomorrow for it's quote. Will know more after that.
I'm comprehensively insure, so no worries getting it fixed or written off. I hope it will be fixed. It's a really nice bike and they aren't made anymore.
My insurance company told me to report the accident. I was going to anyway. If anyone is injured, or more than $1000 damage, it's supposed to be reported.
Yes Warr, I'll be over there in February for Paeroa.:D

Good thing is you're insured and unhurt.
Lot of guys get neither from a situation like this.

Now to go shopping for the replacement...

Darn .. Remember you getting that one.. sounded a sweet number for the Ausi roads.
Will you replace it with the same or do you have a inkling for a change?
If so would you care to reflect on any thing you would look for different - other than the obvious "Being able to avoid deviant cars"
.... what are you plans ...

Zodok,

Sorry you had to bin the bike because of someone else's error. Hows the body ?. You Ok ?

The scrapes are healing up well, but I have pain in the right side of my chest. No bruising there and no broken ribs, but must have done some of the muscle between the ribs. It's barely been two weeks since the off, so I guess it will still take a couple of more weeks to be completely right.
Hope to have the replacement bike about this time next week. The insurance seem to be sitting on their hands a bit.
