The council in Manchester installed some retractable bollards (http://www.biertijd.com/mediaplayer/flvplayer.swf?file=http://media.biertijd.com/movies/200610/onderen.flv&autostart=true&fs=true) to stop people using bus lanes and it's causing a bit of uproar with the public. I would love to watch aucklanders try and deal with these :clap:

They are a great idea, but poorly implemented!

You can actually buy them here, people can install them at the end of their driveways and activate them remotely... ...would be hard to pinch your car then!! and make robbing the house very tricky!

no worries for bikes though ;)

I saw this before but this is a clearer version, you can see the drivers airbag go off in the SUV and the guy spends some time rubbing his bagged face! Fuckin' mean! Bet they don't last too long. What about us dyslexics?

I believe they were originally designed to cordon off certain areas at certain times, ie. between 9am and 6pm the high street is closed to all vehicles as opposed to letting in goods vehicles/buses and not others. Prevents people from trying it on when bollards going up/down every 5 mins!!

People ignoring signs aint a design fault but a human fault, maybe you could blame god.

They seem to work just fine in the first shot where the woman doesn't try and coat tail through behind a bus.
