Hi Elle and Lissa,
I have spoken to the crippled Tart and it sounds like the plan is to meet you guys (generic term) 12.00, BP southern end Dannevirke.
I will txt you Lissa in the morn to check that you are both still going. Just checked the weather, forcast for humid nor'westers, outbreaks of rain, so not to bad.
I will ride down a differant route from Youngtarts car so she does not have to see me riding, don't want her feeling green before lunch.

Back at work today so in the land of computers for awhile...

Really enjoyed meeting you both Elle and Mel. Most enjoyable day. Now when I read your posts I can hear your voices and mannerisms which makes it more entertaining.

I can't belive some of the stuff you told me about the guys: That was amusing.

Next time I will be riding even if its persisiting down cause Tart has trouble with the correct pressure on the accelerator with the cast. Luckily she has more control of the hand cast a or we could'a been in TROUBLE. I heard her muttering something about a truck, ......theres a saying, yu know the one, something to do with Tui.

Castlepoint, ......well we had a bit of a chat and I thought maybe it would be good to organise a ride out to Castlepoint with the Wgtn, HB and anyone else that was interested for a get together and meet the faces behind the masks. I like the idea of either camping or staying in the flat or cabins at the motorcamp at Castlepoint, there is plenty of room. There is a restaurant at the settlement, not to flash but its food, and the pub 4km up and over the hill does meals also. Nice ride out there tooo.

Any interest in that idea.

Sounds good to me, keep being asked about when the next ride is, and the shrug is starting to wear thin with some I think, so who wants to put their hand up to organise this time? Can I just put my order in and say can we NOT do it over the weekend of the 27/28th Jan plz. Maybe Wellington anniversary weekend? Or is that too short notice?

Wellington anniversary sounds great. Alice post the times and date and where. I am keen as well for an overnighter. It can't be on the weekend of the 7s because i will be a bit tiddled at the stadium!

MrsK - i always wave at people in fact, to make it more fun for myself i salute*L* and Lissa and i were just talking about it and i knew where we saw you because i remember seeing you two riding quite close together - the other bikes we had been seeing in pairs were more apart. Wellington Anniversary weekend there is a motorcyclist gathering at Herbertville all staying in the motorcamp for the weekend, takeaway meals available at the pub which is over the road. Last time we were there, there was also a cafe. Porangahau is just down the road & their pub does great meals. Everyone is welcome as the back half of the campground is already booked out. If anyone wants to know more they can PM me via Pickle.

I remember you both waving, it was his blindship who reckoned you didn't wave. Oh, and we really weren't traveling that close, believe me, a lot of people travel crap loads closer than that!! We ride together a lot, so we have got quite good at knowing what the other does.

Speaking of people riding closely together, I went riding a few weekends ago with a couple, they have been riding together for 20 odd years, we rode many kms of backcountry roads around the Bay and they where amazing to watch, she was about 1 bike length and just to the right of he the whole ride, the space did not alter at all and watching them reminded me of a couple of birds doing some type of courtship dance with the two of them bobbing up and down the road and leaning into corners with a millisecond delay between them. Awesome to watch.

RE - CASTLEPOINT as a weekender.

Mrs Kendog, I was wondering if you, or anyone else that may read this is interested in organising something along the lines of what I mentioned earlier ?

I am good at coming up with suggestions but cannot really be fagged trying to organise it to much. You seem to be a good organising type, I think yu know more people that may show interest than me, I can let people in this area know about it, including some riders that are not KB members. I don't care what date is chosen, if its going to happen, I am flexible to fit in with whatever others prefer. I wasn't thinking along the lines of anything big, just a laid back weekend.

Lissa
15th January 2007, 13:23
So Wellington Anniversary is this weekend.. doesnt give much time. I am busy this weekend so cant make it... birthdays etc are on.

Trudes
15th January 2007, 18:55
Yeah, if we want to make it an overnighter, then this weekend is a bit of short notice.
I'm not really that good an organiser, but if you guys let me know some details of when and what you want, I'll do my best to organise (i.e, put the word out there).
So what is the plan? Ride to Castlepoint and stay the night there? Where?
And then, what date, and does the weather matter, for instance, if it rains, is it still on?
Problem is, if we book somewhere they often want a deposit or payment to reserve and if we have to cancel for some reason or a bunch of people pull out at the last minute, I don't want to be out of pocket. (Been stung organising things like this before).
Not trying to be difficult or a pessimist, but I just want to be sure what you want me to organise, if you are asking me to do it.
Thanks

Lissa
15th January 2007, 18:58
Well I think an overnighter is a big ask.. at short notice. And something alot of us should be involved in organising not just one person i think.

We could always do another chicks ride some where first.. just a day trip, lunch etc.

15th January 2007, 21:28
That's a good plan Sean  , I've been wanting to ride that road, and it is definitely the road least traveled! (Ah shite ladies, we can't have a male planning our rides for us:no: ) Maybe we should ask Sugilite to show us some of his secret back roads too!?:shifty:

Feb 6th, Moari Day off, opps not very PC, how about meeting for a ride then aside from an overnighter. You are right of course, its to short notice to plan something for a weekend involving a number people on short notice. Good to put the feelers out, see if there is any interest, float a few dates and see what the general conscensus is, then cause people can never come to agreement on these things someone has to say, right, the weekend of......

The back Roads from Masterton through to Hawkes Bay are cool backcountry windy roads requiring lots of attention, real good to practice riding skills or lack of on.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Lissa, have a good day. Hope yu getting spoiled.

I can vouch for that, when I visited you on Sunday after the ride to Lake Tutira I thought to myself, Gosh ...isn't Mstrs looking haggard,
worked to the bone, womans work never done...

must be why he got off the bike at the Lake and spread himself on the ground, that, and the 32 degree heat. Had to get his energy back to put out again, ...yes I've heard him mumbling.

Nothing wrong with my baby, Nige's handlebars finally arrived from Mars, so the ones he had on his bike went onto mine and I got some groovy new grips and bar ends put on too. (Just bling, although the bars should cut down on vibrations and are wider too so should be more comfortable).
Weather's starting to look shitty over here too, so take it easy ok.

Ok, any of you ladies keen for a ride over the next few days (weather permitting of course!)?
Half way through hatching a ride for tomorrow, leaving Caltex Kaiwharawhara at 10am ish, out to Lake Ferry for lunch (possibly). Anyone want to join us is welcome to meet us at the Caltex or any points in between.

Otherwise I was thinking of going for a little tootle on Monday (will be alone or with anyone who wants to join me), not sure where to or what time, but probably be over the hill somewhere, so let me know if you wanna join me.

Hi Guys just got back from Herbertville, weather was great Friday & Saturday although wind got up last night. BBQ both nights, cocktail hour Friday night was great followed by movies on big screen, Sat night movies were good too especially as the surround sound got sorted - this is all in the campground under the stars.
Ladies who turned up were Viv, Mrs Skunk, Linda (Loopy),Jules on VFR400 2 up, Rachel on her GN250 last night complete with great big L plate, Mrs Skunk's sister Cilla lots of others with kids. Much partying was had by all who turned - accomadation ranged from tents, cabins, vans & bus.
We could all see the comet very clearly as well
For those who asked about the roads they are all sealed to Herbertville from Dannevirke or Waipukurau if you stick to the main road.

Maybe next time

I think bragging rites for the weekend riding has to go Hawkes Bay.

Saturday avo, rode down to Karaka Beach, lovely windy road all the way. Traffic miminal. Stopped at the beach for awhile, one of the guys went for a swim then back to the Patogata Pub for a beer and food.

Sunday rode to Wairoa and back with 2 other riders. That road is so much fun, will be heading up and back again soon. Compulsary pie on the banks of the Wairoa river from the famous pie shop, well actually the only pie shop. Once again miminal traffic, a little heavier on the way back but that sorta added to the fun blasting past them. The roads in good condition, looked a bit shiny in places but did not feel slippery. Passed some guy on a motorbike, looked like he must be on a world tour he had so much gear loaded onto his bike. Stopped for a beer on the waterfront after returning to the Bay and a couple rideing to Hamilton from Christchurch came over for a chat. Its cool how other riders come over and start up a conversation.

Friday got to see the comet, looked pretty good. If you have not seen it check it out, its visible till early Feb, next chance to see it, apparently 1000years ! Harr har....

Oh yer, the weather was lovely, hot and sunny all weekend.

22nd January 2007, 20:35
Well, bar the frustration of the hill being closed for some and sadness for the families involved in the tragedy - the day was awesome!

We (Lissa and I) met the Kendawgs, Adrian (forgot log in name) and we waited for Biggles and OOPS! the guy on the awesome bike! *Forgot name BUT i would recognise you if i saw you again!* and waited and waited and it seemed a LONG time BUT twas probably only about 5 minutes and we decided that since they knew where we were heading we would head to Lake Ferry around Lake Wairarapa.....

We set off and the ride was absolutely beautiful and i even enjoyed the 45% angle of the bike on the first set of straights! We then turned towards Lake Ferry and the wind dropped and the ride was stunning. We got to Lake Ferry and Biggles and his matey were there already! We had kai and a korero and then left for the Gladdy. At this stage the Wellingtonians were gonna head there and then turn and go back BUT.....

Nooooooo........Some of us stopped for petrol in Martinborough, which was surprisingly empty looking, and we were then told about the Taka's being closed so......we rode to the Gladstone......and missed meeting the first lot at the turn-off only to find that we went another way anyhow and our first little incident was that bloody sheep who thought running alongside me and cutting in was cool - thank GOD for horns on bikes.......and the second incident were the cows  Ask MrsK about them - it was the funniest thing i have seen in a long time!

Then at the Gladdy the Kendogs and Adrian decided to head off to Welly via the Pahiatua track and headed out after about 30 mins and i got a call about 10 mins later to say the guys had gone and to pick MrsK up - which i happily did ONLY to find her ignoring me and she was chatting up that gorgeous hunk of a Mobil worker *blinks*......

We were still waiting for news about the Taka's and finally a decision was made that it would open at 5pm, no 8pm no 10pm.........twas going on and on! We went to Salute to meet with Biggles etc and had dinner there - compliments to that gorgeous German chef there.....*Thinking i might ask him out*......*Hair twirls*.....

and i heard the hill opened at about 10pm........I also heard the weather in Welly wasn't that flash.....Twas lovely over here yesterday and today too.

Anyhow, I had about the best riding day ever. Riding with people who are better riders than me just makes me push myself a little bit further and quiz them about things that i notice. Nobody made me feel as though i was asking stupid questions and the great thing was that i could practise whilst riding. Thanks guys, It was an excellent day - for me anyhow! It was made better by the fact that nobody stole my custom shield. I could see there were some jealous stares *blinks*

Quite liked our trip to lake ferry, so maybe we could do that again, lunch there and then on to Martinborough for coffee?

Hmm might go for a ride this saturday somewhere... got my new baffle, but she still sounds grunter for some reason.:Punk:

6th Feb Ride: Will make a thread in the meeting forum, but was thinking the rapa riders meet you welly people at the top of the hill at say 10.30am. Go for ride around lake ferry way and make our way to Martinborough for lunch... if still keen for more riding we could then go to Gladstone Pub for coffee/drink etc. Let me know what you guys think. Also is it a 'chicks' ride only or are the guys welcome too?

I've been wondering that myself. Some friends down south organised it about 10 months ago and they assure me there is. Or it's going to be a pretty dull trip. Actually given the boat can only do about 8km hour, won't be exactly thrilling. I guess we will have to lie around / drink / watch movies / play playstation / sit in the jacuzzi for the whole week. What a shame.

I'll wait and see what all the other 'Camp Mothers' say.... like trudes, elle and Alice.

The Wairarapa ride will be on a weekend, so everyone can come, guys and girls... just have to work out which weekend.

Its hard to organise a ride during the week... so will just leave it as it is, with the Wed Night Rides that are posted in Meetings and Events. The Wairarapa Crew might even ride over to the duck pond one night.

Anyone want to head down South end of Febish/early March? I want to do a trip, - down the Kaikoura Coast, Chch, Arthurs Pass, down the West Coast, Wanaka, Queenstown, back thru the Mackenzie country, Mt Cook, Chch, could shoot through to Nelson on the way back via Hamner Springs then home. I am finding it challenging to find some others to do the trip with, cause I have only been riding a short time I am still trying to t up with other riders. Happy to head off on my own but its always more fun to go with others. Ideally a group of 3 - 5.

I think the boys have organised their own ride, so how about we do this as a chicks ride (we ride with them enough really, don't you think!?), and arrange to meet any of the guys that can't do without us for longer than a couple of hours (ie. My hubby), somewhere later on?

Ok been thinking about this ride:

This is my suggestion: CHICKS RIDE FOR COFFEE AND SHOPPING AT QUASI'S SHOW 10TH MARCH

Me and elle meet any Welly Chicks up the hill at 1.30pm, ride down to Lady Featherston Cafe in Featherston (which has a nice backyard setup) have a coffee and a natter, then leave about 2.30pm to Waikanae, stopping at numerous places on the way like the Paek Hill. Arrive on our beasts, (am bringing my breasts they seem to go everywhere with me) at Quasi's show in Waikanae about 4.30pmish.

If this plan is ok with you girls then I will put it in the meeting and events forum. Also I might need to pm some of the girls. :sunny:

Although this is prob for an entirely different thread but I was at the top of the hill today for about half an hour while I waited for 'elle and those kendog people (whom never showed up) and I find it really amusing.... you have guys turning up on these big huge bikes, they park up, stand around a bit, gawk at each others bikes, have a natter.... I thought girls were bad. Infact was rather peeved off that none of them took any notice of my super cool flamed GN!! Whats the matter with these guys?

Then you have the guys turning up and doing wheelies and skids on their bikes...show offs, didnt even take a bow when they did it... going to learn to do wheelies on the hill... thats my next practice thingymebob.

I actually love being on top of the hill and watching all the bikes park up or ride past... very very envious.. cant wait to trade up. And it was a beautiful day today.
