It seems as though it was weeks ago that the equinoctial winds hit HB where day and night, they rage, whistling through the windows, tanglilng the washing on the line, making tempers and temperatures alike rise.

There is seemingly little respite from gusts that nearly knock you over, when you are out walking, it certainly makes you think twice about jumping on your bike to go for a scoot.

But, no, the worst is yet to come... on and on the bloody wind blows, dragging pine, pollen and God only knows what else from the west coast and central regions and dumping it all over here!

After spending one hour out on the field yesterday in the middle of the day, doing PE in a howling bloody westerly gale, I now have not only full blown hayfever, complete with runny, itchy eyes, runny, itchy, snotty nose, a head that feels like it is stuffed with cotton wool and the worst case of post nasal drip known to man, I have got full blown asthma as well! It feels as though someone has twacked me around the ribcage with a hunk of 4 x 2.

I feel utterly miserable, even had to go and have a nana nap after school today. Sure as hell don't feel well enough to go for a ride! I now have to carry.. antihistamines, nasal spray, eyedrops, inhaler and lots of tissues everywhere I go. Sick of feeling sick, I am!!

Is anyone else tormented by the wind and afflicted with goddamn allergies?
You have my sympathies.. I'm going to drown my sorrows in a nice Shiraz

My sympathies for the respiratory distress.

But, for myself, I like riding in the wind. The windier the better I reckon.

The cure- move to Wellington for a week and those HB winds will not exist anymore. Anyway, they're not winds up there. I was in the bay 3 days last week and 2 days the week before- WHAT WINDS? Unless you have confused beautiful warm sunny days with a warm breeze as windy?
Ignore me. I'm just jealous and want to relocate to Havelock Nth.

I feel a 100 times better than yesterday, thank gawd!
Still popping pills, snorting nasal spray and using eye drops heaps tho, but at least I can breathe...

How do you think I feel back from Brisbane and its going to blow bloody 130km/hr again in Welly tomorrow?

HB only has gentle zephyrs (is that MKII or MKIII?) compared to down here as MD says.

With respect, That is utter bullshit! It can blow here and very hard!!
It was calm yesterday so I decided to go on the midweek ride, about the same time the wind started again - yep, you guessed it, so did my allergies, cut our ride short and went off to the Dr
Put on the nebuliser and given some steroids.
And guess what its blowing a freakin gale again this morning!

I bet The Dover will have some windy stories for you - he spent some of his life in the Shetland islands....where people tie themselves to each other to get to the pub...and anyone under 75kg becomes a kite.

I suspect 'tis a fine line between having enough body mass/weight, yet insufficient surface area (a la sail):innocent:

It's never windy, rainy or snowy.....(theres a tui here somwhere)

With this much traffic the wind can't get thru anyway!

Nah, couldn't stand that - I'd rather put up with the asthma, hayfever and allergies - at least you can treat those diseases!!

We get a Southerly like that almost every night!
However, It's welcome as it drops the temperature from the high 30's to something more respectable. Tomorrow it'll be around 37, and 22 at night after that southerly comes though. Looks as if Xmas week will be up around 48-50 as it was last year!

Had a bush fore last week that first made the day seem orange, just before it became like dusk from all the smoke, and this was at 1 in the afternoon. The shores of Lake Macquarie were covered in ash. The sort of landscapes you see in "DooM" are common around where I live.
