Ok well I have been living on the Hibiscus Coast for 5 years now, and for 4 years of it we have had the same phone number. Ever since we have had this lovely phone number we have had calls that were meant to go to Jean Jones, which used to be in Whangaparaoa but like 10 years ago it left.

Today I am sitting here going nuts. The phone will not stop ringing and every time I answer it, all it is is someone trying to send a fax (beeeeep beeeep beeep) yet we don't have a fax.

It has been doing this for YEARS and we even got rid of our answer phone because there would be 7 messages a day beeeeeeeeeeeeeeping.

How do I fix this?

With your service provider as a nuisance call and they can track it and advise the owners

Take the phone off the hook until you go.

pretend to be her. Accept the faxes (could be worth millions), and take orders from people. They'll stop calling when they don't get what they want, and you get to have some fun too.

Change your home phone number and make sure it's an unlisted number.

yeah attach a fax machine and wait for the fax. the number will be at the top of the page.. return the fax saying wrong number.

I had a problem like that once, our number had been recycled and it used to be the local "grave stone", maker......you can imagine the state of people that rang up, it was easier to take a message and tell them to come down the store and pick something out!!!...it turned out their number it was being printed incorrectly in the yellow pages...it stopped after awhile...

sounds like you need to get TELECON involved if its that bad though

i'd do the fax thing. my home number is really close to the taxi number, and we often get calls at 0300am for a cab. 'yeah sure we'll be there in 5 minutes' and hang up.

Our business fax is the same number that used to belong to a "massage therapist" whatever that is. We use fax software, and get pissed of when we hear the fax ring, and it's voice call.

I actually answered a few times, and it was either a telemarketer, or some idiot wanting a massage.
